Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?

My new EDC is a CASE Dave Canterbury Trapper. The Stonewashed blades are cool, and sharp as a razor straight out of the box. I can't bring myself to cut nything with it, so I think I may just put it back in the wrapper and box. I have a Rough Rider Trapper that I'm not as thrilled with as the CASE. ...

Re: Cattaraugus Cutlery Co. Little Valley N.Y. 1886-1963

I'm tempted to take my metal detector over to the old plant. Probably been worked a lot, but You just never know. Sometimes they find a pop can and don't recheck the spot. If I even found an old shield I'd be thrilled.

Re: Cattaraugus Cutlery Co. Little Valley N.Y. 1886-1963

I hope I'm not bringing an old post up. But I live 25 miles from Little Valley, NY. I just bought this old Cattaraugus two blade Jack from an old neighbor man. I just love this knife, and I'm tempted to make this my EDC.

Re: My Chute Knife by Tim Withers Stockton, Ca

Thanks Treefarmer. Tim is starting to make folders now. I can't wait to see them. He's really great, and especially for a part time maker. He's a full time plumbing contractor.

Re: My Chute Knife by Tim Withers Stockton, Ca

Thanks Treefarmer. It was called a Chute knife, because it was designed with both sides of the blade sharpened for pilots, and probably paratroopers. The design allowed them to slash the cords of their parachute if they were stuck in a tree. The sharpened top of the blade allowed them to slash n cut...

Re: Show off your fixed blades!

AGRussell has several Randall fixed blades with Black Micarta handles. I don't kno if Yours is some kind of Horn material. But if it's Micarta, there are still several similar models.

Re: Show off your fixed blades!

That's a great looking knife You got there Rotten! Reminds me of a high quality diving knife, but with the sheath, I think it's a Fighter. Really great lines on that beauty! I don't know how old. AG Russell still sells similar knives. For about $600! And I think Yours is a little nicer than the $600...

Re: Tim Withers Stockton Big Bear

I think the side showing when sheathed is going to be a Sabre Tooth Tiger. Everything is going to be from th Pleistocene Period. You may have seen this same knife, as I posted it several places about 5 weeks ago.I've never seen another like it.

Re: Show off your fixed blades!

That is a really cool knife. One of those that You would just buy it the aecond that You laid eyes on it. Really nice! Looking at it, it' either made by a very handy handyman, or it's a specific purpose built knife, like for shucking Oysters or something. It's really cool, an looks pretty old.

Re: Tim Withers Stockton Big Bear

Here's a Woolly Mammoth handled custom Chute Knife that Tim Withers made for me. We left out the lanyard hole, because Ron Skaggs and Stan Hawkins are each going to scrimshaw the scales for me, so we left it solid instead of with the hole. Ron and Stan are both friends of mine, so it was easy to tal...

Re: Tim Withers Stockton Big Bear

Thank You for the compliments. Tim has made around 100 knives at this point. Yes, here's the sheath. The knife has never been in it to avoid any blade scratching. Tim does put very soft leather inside of his sheaths though.[oattachment=0]image.jpeg[/attachment]

Tim Withers Stockton Big Bear

Tim's knives are very hard to come by. He has a hardcore following, and he's a full-time plumbing contractor. This makes his knifemaking time very limited. Anyway, through some miracle I was able to buy one of Tim's earlier Big Bear Sub Hilts, So here it is. The Holy Grail of Tim Withers' knives ima...

Re: Show off your fixed blades!

image.jpeg Thanks guys. I was thinking about talking to Tim about trading out Mammoth Ivory for the Micarta, but Tim built this knife to his own taste, and I wouldn't ask any artist to change his painting. Plus, I think it looks pretty amazing for being non-natural scale material. I like having one...

Re: Show off your fixed blades!

image.jpeg Well, I took posession Of my Tim Withers Big Bear Sub Hilt this morning. I like it almost as much as my Mammoth Ivory Chute that Tim made. This is one of his early knives, possibly his first Big Bear. I think that the majority of his new orders are for Big Bears. Anyway, here's what a pl...

Re: Show off your fixed blades!

Thanks guys. This one is a really early one. It's Tim's version of a Loveless Dixon Fighter. I just closed a deal on one of Tim's Big Bears, and it's a beauty. I get it Saturday. I was on the Loveless site, and Loveless Big Bear made today long after Bob is gone, go for $18,000. Tim's is really a gr...
