Re: 2020 GEC 23 Trapper
Onearm, thank you so much for sharing the lovely pictures. The droppoint delete on the 23 looks excellent. I too love those bud fat spay blades. I have a cherished SARPNT but I can’t bring myself to use it. I think you are on the right path with the blade delete to get a spay user. Thank might have ...

19 Little Rattler
Just dropped on GEC homepage.
Looks cool! Maybe it will get more blades in future iterations!

Re: GEC Auctions of Note
The difference in value here is Used vs New. 69C125DD-D2AA-4E06-B0E7-DBBBCEB646A7.jpeg Just shows how a popular pattern can hold value even as a user. Those 43s were about $90 retail if I remember correctly. The Frontier Bone and Rust Red Jogged Bone are both stellar as well, I have had several of e...

Re: Blemish on Tidioute #44?
This is highly unusual for GEC. Your next GEC will almost certainly not be afflicted. If this blemish is not impeding function, don’t worry about it. The 44 is an excellent pattern that sports some of GEC’s best action. But this variety of 44 has no collector value. Still, it has great use value. Ju...

Re: "Things To Ponder"
Supposing we are in store for some more 74’s, what can you fellas say about the pull and action on those.
Compared to, say, 43s (weak sauce!) and 23s (masochistic perfection!)?
Thanks!

Re: Want 73 User or New Bone or Stag
That Green Tea is gorgeous. I know those are early and scarce specimens so I might feel bad about taking it out of the “new knife” rotation and putting it into service.
Thank you very much for the offer and sharing a pic of truly historic GEC.

Re: GEC Withdrawal ?
It’s certainly hard. The 23 is my favorite pattern and I was really looking forward to the new run. I’m gripping my cash tightly for now. Mostly though I’m praying for the health and financial wellbeing of Mr Howard, GEC, and all the skilled and dedicated employees. I hope GEC and everyone associate...

Love this one. Jigged bone and corset shield. If it had a long pull it would be perfect to me. Thanks for posting. Gorgeous knife.

Re: Mail Call, Post Your New GECs.
Very nice SSK. And very generous of KJ to part with it. I realize I am in the minority here, but the stockman has never inspired me much for some reason. I’m a trapper guy through and through. However, I do find that my eyes always linger over these Mavericks. Something about the Congress frame and ...

Re: GEC Factory Closure
My personal situation. I was born and grew up in Montana. For the past several years my wife and I have lived in Seattle to pursue our careers. Mine is in heavy concrete and commercial high-rise construction - a booming industry in Seattle. My wife is a nurse. She is thus on the front lines of this ...

GEC Factory Closure
See the below image for news regarding the recent GEC closure. The Pennsylvania governor did this to help stop spread of COVID. It is especially dangerous to people over age 50. If you have ever watched any factory tour vids on youtube, you know that the bulk of the GEC work force are middle-age or ...

Unpopular Opinions
We all have them. Let’s use this as a safe space to get them off our chests. No hate here, just venting. And remember, these are only shallow, superficial personal opinions. Luckily GEC has great variety in everything so we can all get exactly what we want. Here we go. All acrylic covers are ugly, c...

North woods Heritage jack (GEC 86)
Attractive looking knife.
Listed cover materials, per KSF email, left to right:
OD Green canvas, FMW burlap, red sawcut, giraffe, mammoth.
Anyone know what the FMW burlap is? Looks like a white resin with natural burlap fibers. Haven’t seen anything like it before.

Re: #92 Eureka
Their wood covers are great. And their bone and their stag and their Micarta ....... Something for everybody. Bone excites me the most. Re: What are the most popular GEC patterns?
Good insights KJ. Maybe I will l restate my question. For the purposes of this thread, I think that most desirable/highest/most highly sought make a different category. Campagnas, 38 Grinnlings, stag 85s, 2006 23s are all rare and mostly only for the most committed and elite of GEC collectors. I gue...

Re: What are the most popular GEC patterns?
Beautiful 38’s, FarSide. I wouldn’t mind seeing the grinds on those if you have pics handy. Some patterns are surprisingly not as popular as one might think. For example the 44’s were released in enough abundance that nearly anyone could have one in nearly any trim. And their virtues are endless: re...
