Re: Marking knife from scraps
Nice job on that marking knife, Reverand. If they're pretty that's a plus but they need to be effective and handy. Oh that poor carpenter pencil! If you put a chisel edge, on both sides, along the wide of the lead, to a sharp point, it will give you the sweetest fine line and long lasting fine line...

Marking knife from scraps
I worked on a few projects today in the knife shop, but really only finished one. One project that I started was a blade delete on an electrician's knife. The screwdriver blade was broken at the tip, so it was a perfect candidate. While doing some work, I needed to mark a piece, so I grabbed up that...

It is great to hear that you found a solution, though it pains me to know that you suffered through so much for so long.
I will pray that you keep recovering, and that your story inspires other people who are struggling to not give up!

Re: 2024 POS Exchange
I got a chance today to go through my POS gift from Steamboat Willie. He sent so many good knives that I almost need to post them under the "Bombs" thread! First was this awesome Leatherman Supertool 300. That baby just might show up in my toolkit! It is a beefy Leatherman and looks like i...

That scrimshaw work is beautifully done!
You certainly got a great price on it. I do not know the artist, but they certainly are gifted.

Love the knives! I don't know if the first knife has a celluloid handle or not, but it is definitely cracked ice. I do not see any evidence of outgassing from the photos.

Cool!
It is definitely a Rigid, but I would not have guessed that it was made by Case until seeing these replies.

Re: Fleam knife
No, that one is an ink eraser, used along with quill pens.
They do look a little similar, but a fleam will have a smaller and more triangle-shaped blade.

Re: Elephant toe or sunfish?
In my mind, the Elephant Toenail pattern is an equal-end knife, while the Sunfish is smaller on one end (shaped like an actual fish).
Now I will admit that this definition is mine, is not definitive in any book that I have read, and is worth every cent that you just paid for it.

Re: Hard Hat Knives?
I have one Hardhat knife. It is a hefty little lockback. I wonder if they were manufactured in Owensboro, or if they were an SFO. They resemble some Bear and Son knives, but then again a lot of lockback knives have a strong resemblance.

Re: Let's See Your Camco Knives!
Just received my first two Camco knives. Both are pearloid advertising knives that I believe are from the 60s. IMG_2293.jpegIMG_2294.jpeg I have a similar Camco that I carry regularly. I got it from another member, but I don't recall whom. It might have been a POS exchange? Anyway, it is a handy li...

I won the eBay bid on this knife, and received it today: a Japanese-made Sharp 175 Barlow.
The tip had been bent and straightened, but not too bad. It is still in good shape, and will fit my Sharp collection perfectly.

Re: 2024 POS Exchange
I've been on a road trip and wasn't home when the package from Smalleyd showed up in my mailbox. Unfortunately, I forgot to warn the house sitter and she, bless her heart, put that fetid box of poo right on the dining room table. You can imagine my dismay when I walked through the door and spotted ...
