Thanks for the info! Japan? Hmm ..seems like pretty shoddy workmanship for Japanese construction...I would have thought Maybe Chinese..mayhaps Hong Kong?

Larry-Thanks for that suggestion but I am keeping them as they are...as my father left them ....might carry them once in a while just for sentimental reasons...still usable.

Re: New Case knives with pocketclips question
Just my two cents worth here, but none of cases traditional folders we're designed with a pocket clip in mind...and they never should have added that option ..kinda like putting mag wheels on a Rolls Royce...there are some places where they obviously don't belong. Also i know from experience that yo...

Bear & Sons not collectible?
I'm a newbie here..just been posting for a few weeks .spend most of my time here soaking up knowledge and drooling over pictures of stuff I can't afford. My preference is for American made knives and I'm wondering why I see no mention of Bear & Sons knives. Are they not 'old' enough? Some other ...

Re: Show off your Gerber Knives
An Al Mar designed Magnum. Don't recall when I bought it .believe I was late 70's early 80's. Chunky knife..heavy for it's size...razor sharp out of the box and still is. ::dang:: Well from reading some historical info it looks like This is from the late eighties not seventies...Senior moment...look...

Re: KERSHAW KNIVES
I don't know the correct model number for the 3-blade slip joint but I purchased it in late 1976. Since it is little large and heavy for convenient pocket carry, I really never carried or used it .so it remained in mint condition . I stored it with my other stuff when I moved to a different state in...

Mumbleypeg...Yup Sheperd hills is where I have been eyeballing them...I was just curious to hear from anyone who actually purchased new knives with those handles...maybe not a great seller?...definitely more $$ for that option...dunno...if I would opt for it over some real nice stag or even bonestag...

Re: Great Eastern Cutlery Brand
M0nk..I agree 100 per cent with you on the stainless steel. The #35 Calf Pen is a great pattern and very robust EXCEPT for that 1095 blade which will rust unless cared for properly. If GEC was making knives for Mass consumption, they would be making them in stainless I'm sure. But GEC is making kniv...

Just Dave....I hear you .... Since that purchase I have been saving up towards aquiring another either cocobolo or jugged bone....stag would be great but hard to find and pricey when you do...a bunch of other GEC stuff I would like, but have to stick to my budget...difficult since I just recently re...

Re: Mail Call, Post Your New GECs.
My first GEC purchases and so far my only ones to date .gotta save up for a while since I bought all three at the same time from Collector knives .Thanks Mike! I believe the #44-gunstock is a SFO in Cocobolo with satin blades. Think I got the last one be had in that blade option. The #48 Improved tr...

Re: Thrashed 1097 hopeless?
Well yes the blades do still all have good snap and no wobble..handles are broken off on one end with pins exposed..will most likely leave it as is as well .but probably won't use /carry it. Don't think this was actually my father's .it was found in the house they moved into a few years back .he did...

Used and abused 301 and 303
These knvives belonged to my father who passed away last April. He used his pocket knives for everything including a lot of things for which you should not use a pocket knife the worn and broken blades are testament to how hard they were used. The handles remained intact and the knives are still usa...

Thrashed 1097 hopeless?
I found this thrashed Kabar 1097 in my father's shop after he passed away. Not familiar with Kabar folding pocket knives so have no idea of the age of this knife. Is it salvageable and if so is it reasonable to do so? What would you do if it was yours?

Camillus USN Mark 1
This Camillus USN Mark 1 was in my father's various tool boxes and workbenches since I was a kid..don't know where he got it..maybe a flea market purchase back in the 60's. It's definitely had a hard life .my question is should I try to restore it or leave it as is? I'm open to opinions/advice.

Dennis- It does fire and lock but the spring is weak so action is sluggish. Another member replied to one of my posts in the knife Q&A forum in regards to a mystery knife I got from the same estate sale and he pointed me at a thread with lots of Tang stamps from various makes..one is a list of v...

Unknown origin leverlock
I picked this up at an estate sale. Looks like maybe of Chinese orign but no 'made in China ' stamp anywhere. .some very proud pins but it does work..either never sharpened or poorly sharpened .very dull blade. Has dragon figure on lever side and bull fighter scene on opposite side. Opinions on it's...
