Re: Pawn Stars

Best pawn shop find ever for me was a stainless Randal that I was able to get for $50.00.
They don't buy knives anymore at my local big chain pawn shop so I quit going in.

Re: Case CPM20CV

Couple of things I find interesting on this version. First the blade is full flat ground but you can see that it is more like machine cut than belt ground. I would have liked it a bit more had the blades been hollow ground but I'm definitely not complaining. Second the pattern number on the blade do...

Re: Case CPM20CV

I don't know much about CPM20CV but it's good to see Case using something other than TruSharp, which I'm not a fan of. Have to say I'm very pleased with my Buck with S35VN, which is another U.S. made steel from Crucible that Case is now offering. (I know you said you're not a fan of it). After read...

Re: Case CPM20CV

I do love 1095 and the 440/420 steels especially for their ease of maintenance. But anymore I have a DMT diamond sharpener in my bag anyway instead of an Arkansas stone and have found that even when the 20CV needs touched up it isn't hard to do in the field with the DMT. The hardest part of 20CV own...

Case CPM20CV

Posted this in the Case sub but thought I'd drop it here for those who don't visit there often but might be interested. I saw the Case S35VN knives online and though it's a definite upgrade from Trusharp S35VN just doesn't get me excited. While I was cruising around Shepherd Hills site the other day...

Case CPM20CV

I saw the Case S35VN knives online and though it's a definite upgrade from Trusharp S35VN just doesn't get me excited. While I was cruising around Shepherd Hills site the other day I ran across this. PXL_20230320_180547707.jpg SH didn't have any so I went looking and found them at Deadwood. Of all t...

Re: what would you like to see from GEC?

I would love to see a run of 81 stockman clip/sheepsfoot/spey or clip/sheepsfoot/punch. Also a run of railsplitters like Bill made for Queen and S&M would be nice. The return of Brimstone bone (think Queens Amber Carved Stag Bone). I definitely appreciate the thinner blades on the recent 81 musk...

Re: Question on Steel Will knives

I have owned both the D2 Modus and the M390 Modus. The D2 ran on washers and the m390 on bearings. The m390 was definitely the smoothest opening out of the box. The d2 version felt hesitant and a bit stiff but I was able to improve it by taking it apart and polishing the washers on some ultra high g...

2021 AAPK for trade

Didn't want to overlap QTCut5's trade thread but now that he's completed his trade it is my turn. As absolutely beautiful as it is the 2021 AAPK knife just isn't my cup of tea. What am I interested in - Stockman's, almost any GEC UNxLD shielded stag, jumbo trappers, Possum Skinner. PM communication ...

Making my rounds today and spotted this monster shroom about seven and a half foot up in a tree. My Dixie in the shot for size and it is by far my favorite edc.

Re: Precision Adjust Knife Sharpener Review

I've really been wanting to get my hands on a copy of the Edge Pro; heard so many good things about it, and I love tinkering with good tools, but so far, just have not been able to justify the expense. I do most of my sharpening freehand on bench stones, but sometimes enjoy using the Precision Adju...

Re: Beach "Retirement?"

I have a non active sharpening side business. Non active simply because the people who appreciate a good edge already have invested the time in learning how to do it themselves. The people who don't do their own sharpening just imitate the chefs on the cooking shows and whip the blade around on a st...

Re: Great Eastern Cutlery #98s

Looking into my crystal ball, I think that your hope may come to fruition sooner than later. If I were a betting man, I’d say we will see a single spring 98 before the end of the year. As great as that sounds Bill Howard has sworn never to run 98's again. Any idea why that would be? There's a bette...

Re: Great Eastern Cutlery #98s

The #98 is a large knife but i don't find it "massive". It is relatively slender, like a fine tuned athlete. The tolerances are tight and this fine workmanship keeps it from being bulky. If GEC does do another run of these i would like to see a 2 blade, single spring pattern with flat bol...
