Re: For those in the know ... what's the BEST (cheap) Chinese import
I can vouch for the Sanrenmu knives. I had a pretty much blatant Sebenza copy, I think it was the 710 or something close, that was very nice and got a lot of work use before it vanished. I think it was under $20.

Re: Artisan Zumwalt
There really are. Again though, for the money, I’d buy a BM or other USA made brand. But as to fit and finish, this appears to be the equal to any other knife I’ve owned.

Artisan Zumwalt
I just won this Artisan Zumwalt so I thought I’d add my 2 cents. I actually posted this as a reply to an older thread then decided to double dip. Sorry. :D Id never heard of the brand until I was notified that I’d won so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Titanium frame lock anodized a nice green. It’s a...

Re: Artisian Cutlery
Pardon me for revamping this aging thread, but I just won this Artisan Zumwalt and, in looking for information, found this, so I thought I’d add my 2 cents. Re: Old Queen questions
Thank you for the information. It’s definitely carbon. All blades have what appears to be some natural patina, but there’s been some rust as well. I’m pretty dang fond of this knife. I wonder why Queen was never very big down here (MS) in the Deep South. Growing up of course I knew Case and Schrade ...

Old Queen questions
I recently acquired this pretty old thing and carry and use it proudly. I’ve done some searching on here and other sites but can’t find anything definitive so I hope someone here can help. I think the stamp is from prior to 1955. The knife is carbon steel, and it’s my first Queen CS knife. Any idea ...

I already decided he was a shyster. It ticks me off when I see people try to rip folks in the name of charity. Unfortunately he’ll probably eventually find a buyer.

Re: Are they kidding??
Interestingly, I found where someone donated one of these back in 09 for sale on this site with proceeds to go to the site, which is awesome. That one was still in the plastic, tin and all. And Dale said the plastic made a difference as to the value. I’d never have imagined. But it shows how much I ...

Re: Are they kidding??
In my digging a few minutes ago I did find that info about the Founders Edition. I’m assuming the picture on the tin is the Walden factory, right? Oh, and just so nobody will think I’m a jerk, I called my friend and told him if somebody offers me $270 I’m selling and I’ll cut him in for 10%. Fair is...

Re: Newbie help.
Thank you. I think, based on comparisons with another knife, it’s an 881 pattern. Correct me if I’m wrong though. I’m going to look up Culpeppers. I love this stuff.

Are they kidding??
One of my dearest old friends, knowing I love knives, gifted me a Schrade+ USA 881 as shown in the photos yesterday. I’m still new to Schrade collecting (as in, I know nothing!) so I started internet digging. I wasn’t interested in value. Just wanted to know Year, place, etc. But is the Amazon selle...

Re: Newbie help.
Thank y’all. I agree the MOP was a new one on me. I’ve collected Case and some Schatt/Queen knives over the years. I like the history about as much as I like the knives. It took a great edge. Super steels are great but I’ve never minded touching up an edge every day or three so 440C is good stuff fo...

Newbie help.
I don’t know enough about Schrade knives. Not by a long shot. I recently talked a friend out of this one and have been unsuccessful in some internet searches to find out about it. The knife is just shy of 4” closed with a 2 7/8” main clip point blade. The scales I’d swear are red dyed bone although ...

To my aging eyes it doesn’t look like there was ever a number there. Unless I’m looking in the wrong spot.

Re: The start of something
As a VERY little boy, what I remember is the acorn. I’m 48, and my memory of it has to be from pre-kindergarten. I haven’t even thought of it in that long. Dad was a big knife and gun guy. He regularly had more than one knife with him. There would be one for tougher work and typically one that was n...

The start of something
Many years ago I was gifted an old Case knife and that got me started collecting. For a while I was a rabid collector. I’ve slowed down in recent years due to finances and life in general. Yesterday I was going through some old boxes my Dad left behind when he passed and I came across this old gem. ...

Re: Case...what? Butchers knives?
Case CV, whatever it actually is, is an absolute favorite of mine, but I recognize the limitations in the kitchen. But the smaller of the two shaves arm hair down its whole length and I'm gonna clean them up and work on the big knife tonight. I'd bet as butchers knives go they'd stand up to most any...

Re: Case...what? Butchers knives?
Sorry. The larger knife has an OAL of 11 1/2" and 7" of blade. The smaller knife is 10" w 5 1/2" blade and has obviously seen a sharpening stone a few more times than the other.

Re: Cheap workin knives
I've also pretty much always got a SAK in one configuration or another with me. 10 or 12 years ago I stumbled on some TSA auction lots I picked up cheap. At one time I probably had 30. I've given many away.
