Re: LB8 With Odd Serial Number
Sorry, I know there have been a lot of posts about LB7/LB8 serial numbers but I haven't seen any that answers my question. I have a 4 pin LB8 with an LB7 unetched blade and a brass shield. It's serial number is VA029. I've read about the 1978-1980 Dixie Collections similar to my knife which suppose...

Re: An Old Box With Some Old Knives In It
I've added a half dozen Washington Jacks in the past couple years. These are all Schrades. From the Cut Co days there's a variety of 2201, 2202, 2203, and 2204s - there's even a 2209 in there that's a customized knife with ivory covers that Schrade never made but if they had their own numbering syst...

Re: SCHRADE CUT CO 2203 3/4
It's great to hear that you were able to find the knife on eBay and took the initiative to have it restored and repaired by Herman Williams. The fact that he re-profiled the blade, cleaned the knife, and replaced the handles with bone from the Schrade Factory shows a high level of craftsmanship and...

Re: Imperial Mexico
Yesterday afternoon, my trip to the post office produced this pocket knife. It now becomes the latest addition to this topic or thread and to my "South Of The Border" collection. This pocket knife "brand" is part of the Imperial and Colonial, Mexico story or connection. It is a ...

I think $500 without the ink on it is realistic. Easily a couple hundred more as a salesman sample.

Re: Stiddy, Steady, Cutler's Anvil
Here are some pics and measurements of my stiddy: The round base is 1-9/16" tall with a 5" diameter. The anvil section is bolted to the base through the bottom and is 1.5" by 1.75" (flared out to 2.75" at the top) and is 2.5" tall. The face (surface) of the stiddy is 1....

I spotted that domino knife and meant to take a shot at it but forgot all about it until after it ended. I'm glad it wound up with you - that's a fantastic example of a PM ATLAS!

Re: Those hard to find Old Timers
Congrats - it's a beauty, and it's definitely the hardest to find Old Timer there is. I have read over the years about the two tang stamps but I still have never seen a pic of a 50OT tang stamp - just the 5OT like you have here.

That display is simply amazing. Thank you for assembling all the pics and info and sharing the complete story with us! I always wondered what the inlay material was - Picasso Marble Wafers, indeed.

Re: Schrade Barlow With Funky Stamp
Cal and Eric both already answered correctly so I'll just add this last bit. That Ulster 10 was originally slated to be a Sears contract knife. Under 'SCHRADE' on the tang stamp you can see the remnants of 'U.S.A. 9540' which was the bottom line of the original stamp. Above that it said 'CRAFTSMAN' ...

Re: Imperial Mexico
Thanks Skip I thought you might like this one. I think these kits were mainly sold in the 70s, maybe even into the early 80s. Wouldn't it be great if there were automatic kits like this one available via mail order today?

***** For Posterity ***** Click on the picture to ENLARGE. Here's something I haven't seen before - a NOS Cumosa! Re: Schrade 298?
It's nice to see a couple other examples of the knife, and the timing couldn't be better. After a few years I decided to do something with this knife and while it's no longer a legit 298, it's a representation of what it once looked like and has been promoted from a junk-knife-box dweller all the wa...

Re: ULSTER OLD TIMERS
About that handle material – back in 1960 or ‘61 Crown Plastics was in business with Schrade providing injection molded knife handles. When bone was on the way out but Delrin hadn’t hit the market yet the sparkly smooth brown plastic handles on the 50OT were borne out of an experimental batch of pla...

Re: ULSTER OLD TIMERS
I don't know much about the Ulster Old Timers, though I do own some. I have this 5OT, the handles have like tiny sparkles in them. I'm not sure of the handle material, it has shrunk some so I don't believe it to be delrin. The blades are in pretty bad shape, but I was told it is a somewhat rare kni...

Re: ULSTER OLD TIMERS
Thanks for the comments guys ::tu:: I have never seen a 50OT for sale.. I have a pretty good conspiracy theory about that - I don't think they were ever sold to the public. I have two and I've seen pics of maybe 4 or 5 more including at least one with bone handles. The others (like mine) have those ...

ULSTER OLD TIMERS
I just picked up a 10OT which completes my collection of Ulster Old Timer patterns. On top is the 114OT and then from left to right are the 10OT, 12OT, 50OT, and 58OT. The 10, 58 and 114 (Prince Albert promotion knives) are not hard to find but the 50 and the 12 are rarer than hens' teeth. ulster ol...
