Re: WESTERN 062 two-blade
I dug my 2 Western folding hunters out. Both have Delrin handles, they have different tang stamps, the one with Boulder Colo. stamp came with the sheath. It is unsharpened and the pile side bolsters are covered with verdigris. It has 062 on the pile side of the clip. This 062 came in a trade...

I had NO IDEA that CA would come out so beautifully when polished! Add that to the Data Base, and throw out the Beer Shotgun! When I bought the wood that I have around 12 years ago (at a STEAL of a price) I had no clue that it weighed as much as it does. It was all dunnage from the loading doc...

Re: Finger Tip & Belt Sanders
So you are saying that water is better for certain handles... I get it! I can see your not wanting to dip some handles into oil... I didn't really think of that as for grinding/sanding, and my previous post but it is a valid point. I was posting more for raw metals. I can't see grinding/sanding any ...

I was gonna say something... decided not to I have contacted sellers that I missed a deadline on. Say the auction ended or the piece didn't sell. I ALWAYS asked for the seller to re-list the item. Albeit at $99999.99. That way the seller would not risk their status nor I risk mine. Once the transact...

Re: Finger Tip & Belt Sanders
How well can you detect heat through the gloves? A lot of what i do that usually ends up in raw fingertips it working on metals that are heat sensitive, I HAVE to know when that metal is warming up on the sander. That is what has precluded me from using any kind of fingertip protection thus far. Th...

Both of the above posts are absolutely, 100% correct. The closer to the base of the tree the richer it is in Silica. It is also difficult to finish because even under vacuum it is so dense that the pore structure does not absorb solvents. Any finish that you apply will be a surface finish (in very g...

Agreed that ANYTHING that is not part of your body (excluding hair) is prone to wrap you up like a sausage in machinery. Everything from a gold chain worn around your neck to a long sleeve shirt or a shop rag used to hold a hot piece of metal that you are wire wheeling. I have the emergency room vis...

Keeping it real, helping, do what's right?
Call it what you wish... We all tend to forget what is IMPORTANT! Socks, shoes, a blanket... Call me jaded or deft but if you can order something on your phone, there is something more important than your water softener. Today I refused to take a payment from a customer that insisted that his BOAT w...

Just MY opinion but I prefer the posts that are broken up into specific items/issues. 3-4 knives, and descriptions per post seem to loose "importance" per item.

I plan on getting a Cotton Sampler after the first of the year! It's a very cool pattern Delta! I think I will wait until I can find/afford a Northwoods sampler. It is a beautiful pattern, and a classic example of Americana. I didn't mean to mix brands/posts but the cotton sampler in North... is't ...

They are beautiful, working knives. No doubt about that (in my mind).
I had the same thought about the sheath-s as well. I can not see any reason to doubt the sheath as original, judging by the rest that have been posted.

Tom, sir... I think you summed it up! I never would have thought that companies would not know what their history is/was. I had heart issues trying to keep COMPLETE records of the business"I" have run/owned. I am just ONE guy! If I had 20 employees... ONE of them would be responsible or FI...

I hope this post is not taken as disrespectful to anyone... What I find fascinating is the fact that there is so little CONFIRMED information on , where when, whom, and how MANY knives were produced. It does not seem to matter what brand or country they came from. Many "brands" have convol...

Thank you for the info on this Steve. I've been trying to organize both my catalog of knives, and my new found knowledge. Keeping similar brands organized by manufacturer, and company owners is helping me remember some of these facts. Much more so than copy/pasting every post of interest... They all...
