Re: Help ID this knife
I looked at older Case stamps and they had one similar to Remington early on. All I could make out was part of a circle and that's what made me think Remington.

Re: Tang stamp help.
I agree it looks to nice to be from that era. I purchased it with 3 other knives known to be from that same period, 2 Empires which closed in 1930 according to Goin's and a Schrade Cut Co. which was only used by Schrade until 1946. All of them are in the same condition as this one.

Re: Help ID this knife
Thanks for the input. When I first got it I thought I could see a trace of the Remington logo, after I tried to clean the tang any trace of a tang stamp disappeared.

Re: Hammer Brand Shrade Tang Stamp
The other stamp is Schrade. I know there was some affiliation between the two at one time. It may be a frakenknife, if so the person that did it put it back together well. Blades are tight with good snap and no side play or blade rub.

I was guessing the first letter to be a "F" or "J" did not find anything using those letters. I did find IHER in my goings after your seeing your reply. I will continue searching the old interweb for IHER.
Thanks for the input. The collective knowledge on this forum is awesome.

It is listed again, starting bid of $795 this time. Just my opinion, I do not find any of the Yellowhorse knives appealing.

Re: Wenger Butterfly Knife
May have listed it this way to sneak it through eBay. He added this note to his listing on 10-22 "PLEASE READ!! THIS IS NOT A WENGER KNIFE...THE WENGER PAGE WAS ERRONEOUSLY PUT INTO THE BOX" Could have been a response to someone telling him it was not a Wenger.

When I get the knife back from Case, I will post photos. Unfortunately I do not have any before photos.
I do understand the polished turd comment, I have done it myself trying to dress up a knife, lipstick on a pig was the end result.

Re: Is this Case 6318 legit?
If you send a knife to Case for repair, it will come back looking like that. The way I see it if Case finds it acceptable to polish them like that I see no reason why a person selling one cant do it as well. Not necessarily. I have sent several to them and they have always returned highly polished,...

Re: Case 6254 handles
I checked the liners and they do have the original holes in them, they line up with my known to be authentic Case trappers, and it is a 2 for sure. There are still enough things wrong with that i think we can all agree on, this knife did not leave Case in this condition.
