Re: Mail Call !-Post your new pick-ups here............

gwelker62, Those are some fine looking Schrades. The Old Timer looks especially pristine, 5 stars. It's actually too pristine. Somebody subjected it to a buffer. Which is not that big a deal. I was after the hinged box more than the knife. This knife is going to make for nice eye candy and have an ...

Past couple of weeks have been slow. Just a Walden 8OT and a display set from Herman's trade show days w/ Schrade. 8) ::nod::

Re: My latest Schrade

Think I can now check an early maybe 1st year 4pin LB7/LB8 off my to-get list. Got this 1978 set from Herman. It was given to him by Schrade to use as a display set for knife shows. This is a double points score for me, to have that kind of provenance to go with it. ::ds:: s-l1600.jpg s-l1600 (1).jp...

I am not a huge Stockman fan anymore, but who could not like this one? It arrived in my mailbox a couple weeks ago. Schrade Wostenholm by Herman WIlliams 2009 a.jpg You are not kidding about "huge stockman," although you maybe meant "huge fan." I detect HW provenance surro...

Re: A Schrade Frankenknife

I'm pretty sure I've seen those blades come up for sale on feebay a time or two. Me thinks it's getting to be common practice to piece together leftover parts and pass em off as some 'special' edition knife. Also makes me leery about acquiring EOD knives now too.

I don't think that's the first time for the seller to list that knife. Looks like it was up for sale 7 years ago.

Re: Cheap workin knives

If we are talking cheap work a day knives then usa old timers beat all imo. There are other good choices in that area like imperial, but if I want to use that kind of knife I go to old timers most of the time. Amen brother! Old Timers are/were a cheap(as in inexpensive, not crappy) working man's kn...

Re: My latest Schrade

Aside from the original bone 8ot there was a version they made that was the same but with strange shrinky dink handles and I think a black synthetic sawcut (maybe delrin) walden 8ot that is pretty scarce. The red bone 1985 8ot’s are scarce and don’t show up often despite not being particularly old....

Re: My latest Schrade

An 8OTY [listed as a 'Senior Stockman'] sold today on eBay for US$119. The yellow 'Frontiersman' 8OTY was sold for only one year, that year was 1990. So I fell the brown box, is not the box the 'Frontiersman 8OTY' came in. ::shrug:: eBay item number:15294119760. For 1990, that might be the correct ...

I just love any Schrade 4" knives, The hard to find 8OTs, are the first Bone and last Blue Bone 8OTs. Your 8OT is a good find. ::tu:: ::tu:: ::tu:: Ken I would agree the first bone 8OT may be the rarest/hardest to find, but I don't think the blue bone stockman technically is a 8OT. It was a 10...

Re: 1979 Vintage Schrade 75th Anniversary Knife

I've seen those knives average a little over a $100 as the sold price. However, Schrade prices have been slowly rising on feebay with respect to what the market will bear over the past several months. If left up to an auction, it may go above $150 to $200.

I'm no Dogs head expert, but I've been eyeballing a few for a while since a Coppersmith version caught my eye. And all the one's I've seen have the dogs head shield on the scales and not stamped on the bolster.

Re: Pin thru bolster on EOD Schrade

Well since we are now on the topic of Camillus made Schrades... I have a SC505 made by Camillus, but it doesn't appear to have pin thru bolsters. I also have a 886UH and 898UH, and it's obvious they are pin thru. Is it possible Camillus made some Schrades with the Swinden key?

Is not Damascus steel layered steel that has been forge welded together? Do you mean steel that's actually made in Damascus Syria? I'm referring to the original Damascus steel, or AKA Wootz steel. Of which has not be replicated since. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Damascus_steel The original method...

I have a Schrade stockman Model number SWA834Y in the Schrade plastic tube package. The knife has a "SCHRADE" shield, but obvious steel pins. The card included in the packaging reads, "...Ellenville, NY factory closed in 2004. Production of these knives was moved to Camillus, New Yor...
