Re: 2022 POS Exchange

So I got my POS from Scott (knifegnome) yesterday. What a pile! Some of it continued to disintegrate in the box but it was well enough taped that no leakage occurred. Lets start with the belt buckle; I have not seen my belt buckle in quite some time, when other people could no longer see my belt buc...

On the way to tongue river. Luckily it only has to travel to the next state, less time to "ripen" further. thanks

Re: questions about akro knife

The Marbles are known to collectors as snake corkscrews and in mint condition about 10-20 bucks each depending on color. The company (Akro) sold them as Onyx. The knife does not have "made in Poland" on it so is in the 1935-40 era and the same approximate age as the marbles. The question i...

questions about akro knife

Hi; these photos just showed up on a marble collectors site. There is some question about the age of the box. at least one marble guy thinks it is older than the marbles inside. The knife is used/sharpened, and although it fits the slot, it may not be the original. Have any of you seen this set befo...

Re: anybody recognize this?

I found the identical knife on the US militaria forum, edged weapons thread, dec. 21-2014. The guy bought it on e-bay. It was sold as a Barteaux, but nobody on that forum could confirm or had any clues. I think the Australian connection sounds reasonable, but I will wait and see for now. Thanks

Re: anybody recognize this?

I can find no evidence of a maker's mark on handle or blade. I googled Barteaux and found some similarities but a lot of differences. So it's a good place to start but I'm still lookin'. Thanks

Got this at a yard sale this weekend. Solid cast aluminum handle. the only stamps are some random "4"s on both sides of the blade. Blade 5 inches, overall 9 1/4 inches. Thanks

Re: 2021 POS Roundtable

Picked up my package from Loose Arrow yesterday. The postal employees had long since abandoned their posts. There were patrons outside waiting 'til it was safe to enter. The looks of admiration and gratitude I got when I emerged with the offending package were priceless. Thankfully I had the foresig...

Re: 2021 POS Roundtable

A box on the way to Pete's Knives. The poor ladies at the P.O. were retching as I left. When you live in a town this small, where everybody knows everybody, I kinda' felt guilty. I expect I'll get over it.

any info on this knife

I posted this on another thread several months ago and got no response. I got this knife from the back of my Mom's kitchen drawer (she's 92). She said that she got it from the back of her grandma's kitchen drawer. They came from Iowa in the late 1800s. A friend of mine says It's pre civil war, I'm n...

Re: Anyone know the technique for using the blade w/no stud can opener?

Be careful using them. when many of the older openers were made the cans were made of tin, not steel like modern cans, so they were much softer. Thanks

knife on craigslist

On Craigslist Spokane there is a WW2 Collins fighting knife. If it's real (I think it is) it's a bargain. I can't find my Knife magazine article about them. If anyone here goes after it keep us posted. Thanks

Re: He’s back, with a new seller name?

I often don't know or see what you guys are talkin' about, but this time maybe. let me know if I'm right. The most obvious thing to me is the tangs look old and worn but the blades look new, so probably welded on. Then maybe the stag is a little thick. The pins are a bit ragged, and the hinge pin do...

Nice pile knife7knut, there are alot there that I have never seen before. Here are some pics of the ones I have that don't match any of yours. Pic1: a)Imperial- a better knife than you would expect. b)SAK wannabe- made in Germany with a whale logo. c)Waltco- apparently kind of HTF. came to me in a P...

Re: the knife is now on ebay

The tang stamp looked legit to me, but I'm not an expert. There is no model number on the other side, so the main blade was probably not meant to be a main blade. The pen blade has no markings. I assumed that the knife was made from "lunchbox" parts, but I don't know. The shield is the big...

the knife is now on ebay

I went in to get the knife I talked about below and he had listed it on the bay. I don't know how to put the listing here but It is listed as a" very old signed winchester knife". The seller is" buxt 3406". take a look and see what you think. Thanks

Re: I was offered a Winchester...

As I remember it the knife is straight not serpentine, but the bolsters are like the 2067. Is there a list of winchester shields anywhere? I have looked and can't find anything resembling the "S" curve shield. Thanks for the help

....knife yesterday. It seems like the real deal but it has some issues. I'll try to describe it from memory; It's a straight 2 blade one spring pen. No pattern number. Approximately 3 inches closed. Main blade is a wharncliffe. Main blade has the only tang stamp. Small tip bolsters. The jigging on ...
