Re: Now we have a Colonial thread,Show'em

Here are a couple Forest Masters made after Colonial stopped putting on shields. They have red and white stagged handles and the white one is glow in the dark. I have seen 3 other models of Colonials that glow but this is the first Forest Master. Colonial red and glow 2.jpg Colonial red and glow.jpg...

Re: Sharp™ USA Knives Made By Colonial

I've learned something from this post. I've always liked the Anvil line of knives but didn't realize they had "Sharp" cousins. Thanks for posting this info. That's great Phil. You are very welcome. :) You are welcome Mike. I have wondered about that too. Colonial obviously knew the differ...

Colonial Patent Information

I recently added some information to my website about Colonials Patents. Anyone interested in learning about what I consider Colonials 3 most important patents, plus a bonus patent that I'm willing to bet most people dont know exists, please visit my website here. https://colonialknives.wordpress.co...

Re: Sharp™ USA Knives Made By Colonial

You are welcome Mike. I have wondered about that too. Colonial obviously knew the difference between a trapper and a stockman. So why would they do that? Maybe they assumed the average consumer of these low end knives wouldn't know the difference and would somehow be more inclined to buy it with a c...

Re: Ranger 3 blade by Colonial?

You are welcome Truck. I had a feeling this was going to be stainless. The blades just stuck out as not the same as other Rangers. Too shiny and clean. Colonial used 420 for most of their stainless knives. They also used some 440 but it was reserved for what they considered their higher end knives. ...

Re: Ranger 3 blade by Colonial?

Hi Truck. Very nice find! It was definitely made by Colonial. They were sold at and ordered by Smokey Mountain Knife Works in the 1980's. Its a copy of the Ranger Model # 933. If it has carbon steel blades it would be Colonials 1075 steel they used on the whole Ranger line. Do you think the blades a...

Sharp™ USA Knives Made By Colonial

Colonial made the knives and owned the trademark for Sharp™ USA. These knives were sold at Kmart stores across the USA from the late 1970's through the mid 1990's. Colonial did not make or own Sharp Japan. These were stainless steel and marked as such on the package. Some were also marked Stainless o...

Re: Now we have a Colonial thread,Show'em

I'll offer this up as a teaser to give myself inspiration to take pictures of the rest. This is the latest Colonial in my hoard, a Sharp USA-stamped 2-blade jack in Colonial's infamous faux-stag, on the same frame as the 3-spring stockman also stamped with "Sharp USA 270". 270 might be th...

Happy to help. ::tu:: Ive said before that you have a great eye for Colonials. Those 2 you posted are a couple very collectable and sought after Old Cutler Barlows. The other one in your picture is the Old Cutler Model #720 Buckskin. I have been asked many times which Old Cutler is the one that look...

Re: Now we have a Colonial thread,Show'em

Here are a couple interesting Swiss Masters. The 4 blade model is an older one with the first hot stamp shield and cross Colonial used on their Swiss Masters. Victorinox felt it was too similar to their logo and they asked Colonial to change it. So to avoid legal problems Colonial changed to the cro...

Re: Colonial is preparing to issue an OTF Auto

Not something I want to buy but pretty cool anyway. I think its neat to see them being successful with USA made switchblades after their family's history with them. Their website says these are temporarily sold out already too.

Here is a picture.

Re: Now we have a Colonial thread,Show'em

Hi garddogg. That is a hard working knife right there. I have one too. The model # 933. I bought mine cheap because the top of the main blade was broken off. I re shaped it into what you see here and its an incredibly useful knife that cost me $3. It has built up quite a patina. Colonial Ranger Yell...

Re: 2 different curved tang stamps used by Colonial

The second tang stamp is stamped too far to the right and the end of the L in Colonial is cut off. I think when Colonial was changing from the CKCO tang stamp to the curved stamp they used this one for a while. Due to both tang stamps having a defect I think this was a temporary one they stamped by ...

I was able to get a few more Forest Master pictures today. Here is one Ive been looking to find for a few years. A red Forest Master. This is the last style Forest Master Colonial made. Hi Tony, nice to see you my friend.

Your Stag Barlow might not be a re handle.

Looks to me like a RAP #72S. Part of the Old Cutler 5 Star Series. Here are a few advertisements.
