What are the rules regarding retracting a bid ?
To me, allowing retractions under anything but strict circumstances (i.e. bidder dies unexpectedly) messes up the fairness of the auction.
I am hoping someone here can explain 'bid retraction' to me.
thanks, kj

Re: Mail Call, Post Your New GECs.
Beautiful knives, Roland, must of been a very nice surprise to open those up. Good work Mike and Glenn! ::tu:: ::tu:: Thank you Dan. Indeed both were a surprise. They show the kindness of the AAPK members. I bet AAPK is the 'kindest' of all on line collector forums, knives, stamps, toasters, tube r...

Re: Mail Call, Post Your New GECs.
Here are 2 GEC #14 Barlows that arrived in my mailbox. They were both a surprise sent by kind AAPK friends. Both are #141122. One has the original Cocobolo Wood handles and it is a gift from Mike Losicco, "Galvanic". The simplicity of these #14's is their beauty. The other # 14 arrived a c...

Re: Show off your favorite GECs!
I REALLY like the Montana Workhorse Whittler and the #54 Harness Jack. Both are big stout real working knives with powerful blades.
It seems to me that GEC no longer make large multi-blade knives. Or have i forgotten some of the releases of the last 5 or so years ?

Re: Unidentified Knife Brand
Thank you Eustace. Now i can stop searching through Anthony Carter's book of German markings.
Is this a recently made knife ? Within the last 30-40 years ? And how is the quality of the recently made Russian multi-blade knives ?
Thank you,
kj

Glenn what are the GEC numbers on the blade tang ? thanks, roland Unfortunately, I did not note the pattern numbers, so it may well be something else. It is a Tidioute(GEC) for sure! Thank you Glenn. Some of these EO's i believe were made for the #15 pattern and some for the smaller #14 pattern. If...

I've seen only a few old Gunstock Whittlers and all were British. This knife is likely also from Britain. Great old knife !

For Sale: Burt Foster Santuko
I bought this knife from Burt in 2010 for $450. I have used it, always on a cutting board. The edge would benefit from a sharpening. If you send the knife to Burt he will give it a 'spa treatment' including re-sharpening for the cost of return postage. OAL 11 1/4", blade is 6 1/4" forged 5...

For Sale: 4 Vintage Custom Puukkos
Old Finnish Puukkos are hard to identify as to maker. Even today many Finnish villages have a "Smith", a person who makes Puukko knives in the traditional forged manner and sell them to the locals. Some get well known and their knives are sold throughout Finland. The makers sign their kniv...

Re: Need help to identify knife
Although "Frost Cutlery" is an American company i don't think they manufacture knives. They import knives from China & Pakistan. If they actually do manufacture knives in USA, that is news to me.

Re: Signature help
It would help if you posted pictures showing the entire knife, both sides. The 'signature' is not anything i have seen before but if it is a custom made knife someone might recognize the 'style' when they see the whole knife.
