Schrade G9594US Girl Scout Knife
Just purchased this one recently. I’ve had hundreds of Boy Scout knives but never a Girl Scout but this one really got my attention. In pretty good shape despite the broken tip on the punch. I’ve never seen another though they did make them with stag, pyralin and Pearl covers. Being from Texas the L...

Re: Product Categories
Vintage typically refers to 50+ years old. I believe automobile aficionados use 50 years as well. eBay uses pre-1969 forever but I’m not sure why they picked that year. Plus they never update it so I’m assuming it’s arbitrary. I’ve been vintage for a very long time.

Re: Seller is not responding
I suggest you buy knives from old rcwar56 as I offer 100% satisfaction on every knife I sell. Doesn’t resolve your current problem but hey I can always use another customer. Good luck to you.

With the large number of modern knives offered for sale here I think it would be advantageous to all sellers and buyers if folding knives at least could be separated into two options, i.e. Vintage Knives and Modern Knives. A buyer and seller would then have the opportunity to browse through the two ...

Re: Electric Cutlery Co.
It’s a Hawbill Pruner. Scales look like redwood as I think I see a red tinge to them though redwood does turn black with time. Doesn’t show Newark or Walden so I’m thinking it was made in Newark by Friedman & Lauterjung between 1890-1909. Electric was sold to the New York Knife Co after that and...

Re: August 2021 AAPK Knife Giveaway
My apologies. It wasn’t meant to be but it certainly reads that way. My mother would’ve ripped me a good one. I would’ve deleted it but don’t have the aptitude to figure it out. My mother also taught me to own up to my mistakes and don’t try to hide them. Congratulations to the August winner and the...

My apologies. It wasn’t meant to be but it certainly reads that way. My mother would not have been proud. I’d have deleted it altogether if I had the aptitude. Re: ANOTHER ebay seller trick!
Caught a guy doing that very thing on eBay several months ago. I knew how to check his cancelled bids log and discovered he had done it over 20 times within 30 days. Reported it to eBay fraud with all the documentation to prove it. Told eBay they were to blame as they should have something in place ...

NYKC Model No. BB1 Utility Scout Knife
I picked up this NYKC utility knife recently and have some questions my research hasn’t answered yet. I know NYKC made a BS1, BS, BS3 and BS4 Scout knives but this one is none of those. This one is a Model No. BB1 and I can’t find squat on this version. It has the exact same blade combination as the...

Re: Scales
Pyremite is about as close a name I could think of. I think Remington normally used that term on the green pyremite. But green and brown swirl Pyremite sounds good to me.

Yeah that may be the colors but I asking about the pattern type. Butter and molasses scales were most common on old Camillus knives. Here is a photo of a Common butter and molasses

Scales
I’ve got to humble myself and ask for help with a question even a knife novice probably knows the answer to. I’ve got about 35 years of experience with pocket knives but don’t recall ever getting the correct terminology for these celluloid scales. I’ve seen them referenced as waterfall but I don’t t...

Challenge Cutlery
Can anyone help me to find the all knowing resident expert for Challenge Cutlery Company. I have 3 pages of mostly 2-blade Challenge pocket knives that came from a Challenge catalog but I'm not sure who posted them. What I'm really looking for is an old catalog whether original (not likely) or a rep...

Re: Hammer Brand Mystery Knife (for me anyway)
Now that I'm almost over the embarrassment of my last post regarding one of my Hammer Brand USA swell end Jack I'll ask again with a clearer mind. They made two lines of knives. The first line of knives were the Hammer Brand knives with an ID number that started with HB. These knives also had a shie...

Hammer Brand Mystery Knife (for me anyway)
I've handled hundreds of Hammer Brand knives over the years and thought I knew everything there is about them. But for some reason the last few days I've one across knife after knife I can't explain. Now I have a Hammer Brand USA swell end Jack. 1945-1955. Here's where I'm lost. The shield on the fr...

Re: Camillus tang stamp folding hunter
Thanks for your help. I remember seeing before about the Camillus tang stamp charts being unreliable. I've temporarily stopped buying or selling Camillus knives until someone can provide more clarity in dating them. Fortunately this folding Hunter is in excellent shape no matter the date. I've been ...

Camillus tang stamp folding hunter
I recently came into a Camillus folding Hunter. I've always been under the impression tang stamping with the shorter line underneath Camillus was 1946-1950. I had a smaller folding Hunter a while back that had the same stamping. I was assuming Camillus was still using bone pre-1950 and neither of th...

Re: Robeson pattern number variation
I was only able to find one other 013 and it had the same badge as mine but his spear blade was ground flat. Thee pattern number was on the reverse side of the sabre but his was 622013. The 1 - 4 has got to be a variation with the spear blade

Re: Robeson pattern number variation
I'm having horrible connectivity with my AT&T wifi today. Actually for a few months. And so does our whole neighborhood. So right now it won't let me access anything but the last 8 photos out of over 6,000 on my iPad. I stand corrected on the saber spear but there seem to be variations in a spea...
