Re: Old Case Fixed Blade

Thanks for the thoughts guys.

Steve-
Hard to tell due to condition. Appears to be closer to chisel ground style, but totally guessing on that.

Old Case Fixed Blade

Hi guys. Came across this one recently. Condition leaves a LOT to be desired, but it is one of older Case fixed blades I've seen in awhile. Case is stamped in plain font, no tail that I can see. Guessing 1940-65 date range? Handle appears to be leather with stitching. Love to hear any thoughts/info ...

Re: Brushy Mountain-End of the Line

I looked it up and it closed in 2009. So I would be of the opinion it was not made to commemorate the closing of the prison. ::uc:: Appreciate you checking on it. I'm going under the assumption it was made in 1983, due to that being on the blade? I can't find any significant 1983 event that would i...

Brushy Mountain-End of the Line

Lucky enough to come across some cool knives in my business. I thought this was a really neat piece. It's a Frank Buster Fightin Rooster Stockman with wood handles. The really cool thing is the blade. It reads: Brushy Mountain, End of the Line, 1983, 1 of 500. This knife is stamped 432. It has the T...

Re: German Eye Triplets

Mike & Ray-
Thanks guys! I love the old German Eyes, but they always are tough for me to date. Seems like tang stamp and shield combo is the way to go to get an idea of age on them from everything I can gather. Thanks again!

Re: Case Knife-Large Novelty Info

I feel lucky to have added this knife to my collection. They do not come up for sale very often. Last real one I saw on eBay was about 4 or more years back. I'll need some bigger pockets if I decide to put it in my EDC rotation. Thanks Joe! Thank you Wayne! So glad that it ended up in your hands. E...

Re: Case Knife-Large Novelty Info

Joe, please don't view my post as a chastisement. The intent was informational. I wasn't accusing you of anything, just trying to be Mr. Helping Hands and present a picture of the way things work on AAPK. The written word and understanding do not go hand in hand. Hang around. You'll become addicted...

Re: Case Knife-Large Novelty Info

It depends on the purpose of the thread. If it's just informative, "Look at the variety of knives that come through my shop.", that's fine. If the intent is to generate interest and sales then that's not the proper place for it. If you want to sell a small handful of knives each year on A...

Re: Case Knife-Large Novelty Info

Just an update guys. I listed this knife for auction on ebay. I use ebay almost daily in my business and ultimately, just felt comfortable listing it on there. If anyone has interest, click on my AAPK profile name and click my ebay info. Appreciate all the help from everyone on here. I'm considering...

Re: Case Knife-Large Novelty Info

Also, another question for any of you guys...what is the actual correct term or model for this knife? I've been referring to it just as a display knife, but I'm not sure if that's accurate. Thanks!

Re: Case Knife-Large Novelty Info

Ken- I hadn't considered that, thanks for the link. I use eBay quite a bit, but would definitely like to see a true collector have this one. With this knife especially, I'm not really sure what the fixed asking price should be. Knifeaholic did give me a ballpark estimate and he seems to be very know...

Re: Case Knife-Large Novelty Info

Very nice and desirable knife especially for the Case collector. You don't see these very often. There was a counterfeit one that was on eBay a while back. It was a re-stamped 1989 reproduction knife that still had the pakawood laminate type handles on it. Thanks! I'm kicking around the idea of put...

Re: Case Knife-Large Novelty Info

Others are correct, they were made as a display knife in the 1920's era. Resurrected in the Case Classics line circa 1990. The new ones will have the date as part of the tang stamp. That one looks to be an original. RARE knife. Thanks so much for the input! I will try to post some better pics tomor...

Re: Case Knife-Large Novelty Info

U.P.,I just know enough about them to be dangerous.I think the ones in the classic program had wood handles and the one you have looks like some kind of man made material. It looks to have some shrinkage next to the bolsters and the Case looks to have been hot stamped into them. You are right, the h...

Re: Case Knife-Large Novelty Info

There was a run of them made during the Case Classic program in the early 90`s.I also believe there are old original display knives also.If it is a classic it may have a year stamp on the on the back of the tang. Thanks for the info. No year stamp on it. I'm guessing the older ones are more valuabl...

Case Knife-Large Novelty Info

Hi guys. First time poster, apologies if this isn't the correct forum. I come across lots of knives in my business (small pawnshop), but have never seen one of these. The older gentleman that I purchased it from told me that Case gave these to some of their dealers back in the day to display. Can an...
