Re: EIG Bowie Knife
Your knife is definitely German made. EIG is not the most recognizable German maker but they did produce some good quality cutlery. This "Bowie" knife has been marketed by other German companies, i.e. Carl Schlieper (Eye Brand), Anton Wingen (Othello) and several others. "Genuine Bowi...

Re: Knife identification
I have several similar German made knives in my collection. It is a fairly common pattern and marketed under C.F. Kayser, Hugo Koller, Altenbach, Krusius Brothers and others. It is also made with the addition of a corkscrew. With no company maker’s mark stamping there is no way to further identify i...

Re: Solingen Tang Stamp ID
Gehrels, I've been researching some German maker marks and manufacturers and ran across a reference to to a logo that represents a propeller "and a ship's wheel (helm). The resultant maker was listed as Luckhaus & Gunther. I've never run across that maker before but the description of the l...

Re: Four Pyramids and a Palm Tree tang stamp ???
MH72, while doing some research on another German maker, I ran across a reference to an old stamping that included a Pyramid "and a palm tree". The referenced maker was listed as Ferd. Herberz & Cei. Not sure if it's an exact match but seems to be a close fit. Cool old knife. Joe D.

Re: Unknown tang stamp ??
I have several reference books and other printouts representing German knife makers gathered over many years. I am unable to identify this specific stamping, even though there are several stampings involving the depiction of a lion, even some holding various objects within their paws. Just wanted yo...

Large Ed Wusthof
Thought I would share this nice Ed Wusthof piece. I actually didn't expect to win the bidding on this one but I was the only bidder. I was surprised as it is, in my estimation, a nice German piece. I've reviewed other Wusthof folding knives on the Forum but haven't seen many in this condition. A nic...

Nice find and an interesting old maker. Raucherkopf was the brand name of Volker, Forst & Merten of Solingen-Hohscheid according to the J. Anthony Carter book “German Knife And Sword Makers”. Volker, Forst & Merten we’re makers of scissors, pocket knives and vine and gardening shears. Your k...

Re: Tang Stamp ID?
DMLEATH, the bone on your knife looks to be German in my opinion. Looking at a reprint of a book entitled "German Tool And Blade Makers", there is a listing for the name "KAKAIME" associated with a maker, Karl Kaiser. There is no additional information on which to base a search. ...

Re: Carl Sclieper "Pride of Texas" set value
I believe the Eye Brand Pride of Texas set was commissioned by James Marek of Houston, Texas, through Carl Schlieper and Knife Importers of Austin, Texas in the mid 1980's. The set consists of two J model trappers, one in bone handles commemorating the Alamo and one in cracked ice handles commemorat...
