1980s?? Old Timer Display
I just picked up this vintage display with all the original knives! I carefully took apart the frame and wiped down all the knives with some oil and rewired them to the board! All springs were good no issues! Just looking to figure out exactly what year it is from! It has a 1982 catalog and display ...

Maybe not! I want to learn as much as I can! I think they are fabulous and maybe somebody that's an expert can take over and share their expertise! I'm just trying to get the ball rolling, I love case but they are soo overrated!

Re: Case Tested 6383 Green Bone I Aquired
Well I stumbled on this thread looking for pics of XX 83 greenbone! 3.5 years old or not I'm saying it is a counterfit stamp and quiet possibly it's had the shield replaced!

Re: Case Tested 6383 Green Bone I Aquired
I believe your tang stamp is engraved not stamped! I don't wanna be a bummer but I just feel people should be honest about it! I think that was an early xx with the circle C shield and someone shaved the tang and engraved it! It's still a rare knife! XX greenbone 83s are actually harder to find than...

That would be great to see one! Just think around 100 some odd years ago they were making way better stuff than they are today and we have the capabilities of making anything today with the best of materials..

Re: Pre 1911 Scout Knife???
Thanks yes I have realized that this knife is not a boy scout knife at all! But I am curious about how old it is, I'm wondering if the knife was made pre boysout era! My first post on the knife I was under the impression it was a SCOUT KNIFE but now I know what type of knife it is I was curious to k...

I haven't been on the forum much the past 2 years but I've picked up alot of good stuff since then! Here is a Kabar Fishing knife I got from a local guy I know that was his great grandfathers knife! This one has bone handles the only other ones I have found were the same jigging but black synthetic!

Re: Pre 1911 Scout Knife???
Check out scoutknives.net! There is a list of boyscout knives and unofficial scout knives! This knife was an official scout knife I'm assuming that would have be prepared etched into the shield just as the rest of the official scout knives made by NYK! But instead the buyer had his initials etched i...

Pre 1911 Scout Knife???
I purchased a New York Knife Co scout knife today that also carries the Hammer Brand Logo on the main blade! It has a long pull and a nail nick on the main blade along with a pat no 701-878 on the punch which is dated to 1902! I know that there was not any Actual boy scout knives until 1911! I'm cur...

Re: Case Tested 6383 red bone????
Well my question now is if case was warrented, couldnt this knife be a tested and maybe the handles broke in the late 60s and this knife was sent in for repair! Using 1960s jigged handles and shield? I mean my father has a double xx 92 pattern with a 70s shield and bone he sent in in the early 70s!

Case Tested 6383 red bone????
I just picked up this 6383 whittler I dont believe it is a 08 pattern because it has the hump in the center but the numbers are wore off the back! Im pretty sure this is a legit knife it has the block tested era shield and the tang looks correct! But im really wanting to know if anyone has seen thes...

Re: Pocket Wear & Patinas
Nice old knives posted here. I like a knife that has really been used, that way I do not have to cringe when I use it. And that old carbon steel patina is like seeing an old friend. Here are a couple - I know I have posted these elsewhere but they fit here. And that old carbon steel is like seeing ...
