Re: Why does Camillus gets a bad rap?
My first quality knife was a Camillus Cub Scout knife that I got when I was 7 years old. It ended up getting lost maybe 5 years later but I do remember it being a well made knife. I have about a dozen Camillus knives at the moment and they are all solid. It was a sad day when they closed their doors.

Re: What's Happening
Where did you see the 47,72and 65 info? Also isn’t 65 Ben Hogan and 63 Fish knife? Willc, all these various patterns are seen in the "What's Happening" pics on the GEC production blog (http://greateasterncutlery.net/blog/). The What's Happening link always hangs out near the top of the ri...

Re: What's Happening
Ok guys, I was going to create a new thread regarding the recent "What's Happening" pics, but I had to resurrect this old thread because it seemed appropriate. So with no Production Schedule update, we're seeing: 47 Hawkbills, 72 Hoof Picks, 65 Fish Knives, all kinds of kitchen implements...

Re: 15? 20? 25?
For my pocket knives I usually go 15 degrees or maybe even lower.
I free hand so I basically lay it real low on the stone and grind.
I have been doing it this way since the early 80’s and I think the blades cut better at lower angles and they are easier to touch up later on too.

Re: GEC Liner Locks
I only have one GEC with a liner lock, a 73 from 2008. It has very slight up and down play which is no big deal to me. I’m kinda ambivalent as to whether I buy a slip joint with a liner lock, if I like the pattern I’ll get it. From what I have heard most of the GEC’s have that little bit of up and d...

Re: Did You Ever Lose Your Knife?
Damn a TC single Spey that's like pretty much my Grail knife! Hope you find it! I hope so too but I lucked out on that run and also got one in sawcut bone. GEC does a great job on their sawcut bone imo. This one is losing its etch and has some pepper spots but it’s still as snappy as the day I got ...

Re: GEC Bail & Chain Boy's Knife
willc, while bone is fine I prefer the sleekness of the ebony on this model. Congrats. The ebony on this run has been exceptional. I have a one arm jack from 2014 that is a bit streaky, this can add character but it isn’t what most expect from ebony. I love the look of jigged bone on these barehead...

Re: GEC Bail & Chain Boy's Knife
I got a bail and chain in ebony and I like the idea of it but doubt I will carry it much.
That won’t stop me from maybe getting a jigged bone one or one of the M&G with 2 blades.

Re: What is Next?
Those ebony 44’s do look good.
I may go with one of them and a Northfield in cocobolo.
The run of 14’s is super cool but I was hoping for a run of 26’s or 79’s soon.

Re: Did You Ever Lose Your Knife?
I’ve been pretty good about not losing knives over the years. As of now the only knife that may be lost is a Super Blue Spyderco Delica but I do have 2 GEC’s that are MIA, a TC single spey and a 65 canvas micarta fish knife. The GEC’s are around somewhere as I know they were in there tubes last time...

Re: Caught Flat Footed by Ebay Seller
It is odd but occasionally things like this happen. About 10 years ago I bought an amp on eBay and before the guy shipped it he asked if I was interested in a similar one and I said yes. So he packed them both together and said send payment for the second amp after I checked them out. It is nice whe...

Re: Camillus electrican's knife variations
Not sure if this is the right spot but I have a Camillus 27 but it is only the single spear blade. The tang stamp is the 1960 variety and handles are wood. Now I have had many TL-29's over the years but have never seen this. Was this a normal production piece? Or is this a modified knife? I picked i...

This is my normal days contents of pants pockets.
I also keep a newer type Vic Soldier in my work backpack plus a Stanley retractable.
Can never have enough sharp blades on me.

Re: Hello from Phila PA
Thanks everybody for the warm welcome. Right now all I have is my phone for pics and it is pretty terrible. I hope to soon get something nice, with a macro setting, because I do have a few questions about some of my knives that would be difficult to ask without said pictures. Anyway Happy New Year t...

Hello from Phila PA
Hey everyone, I just found this forum and am amazed at the wealth of info. I am not new to knives, been carrying one since the mid 70's when I got my Camillus Cub Scout knife. Been through dozens over the years then a few years ago just started picking up ones here and there and now it seems I have ...
