Re: Ka-bar 80s Stag history
HI: i enjoyed your post about the Stag Line of kabars. i have all of these knives, but there are two more that were in the line, the 1190 (jumbo jack) and the 1194 (canoe). The 1198 (two blade folding hunter) i got came with its original box and paperwork and the paperwork mentions there were 6 kniv...

Re: Kabar stockman help?
HI: i have several of these knives and doubt very much if it is either delrin or bone. back in the 40's and 50's knife manufacturers used what they called "black composition" for handles. what the exact makeup of that is, is unknown to me, but i do know it is not celluloid and is very stab...

Re: Dating a Safety lock
i actually posted the pic before i got the knife. as it turns out it does have Union Cut. Co. Ocean NY on the reverse of the tang. so you think it could be from the 30's?

Dating a Safety lock
Here is (i think) an unusual folding hunter. tang stamps just KA-BAR USA. no Union Cut. Co. on reverse of tang. anyone care to hazard a guess on date of manufacture? 1950's?

Re: Kabar tang stamps
Hi Wayne: you are definitely correct about the blurred time lines. no the tang stamp shown in the pic is the only marking on the knife. it is definitely NOT a club knife. my guess was the late sixties, early seventies. i think the date of manufacture with the small case Kabar goes from the late 50's...

Kabar tang stamps
I have been trying to put together a time line for Ka-Bar tang stamps. There are some charts out there, but they are very broad. i just got this folding hunter with the KABAR in small case letters. what is interesting is that most references shave seen show this tang stamp as in the 1960's. it could...

Re: A new to me Queeen
hi: here are a couple #28 English jacks. they both have winter bottom bone handles. the light in the pic is bad, but the lower one has a lighter color than the upper one. both are form 1958-60.

Ka Bar dog's head stag lock back
Hi: this lock back is 4 5/8" long closed. it has a serial number of 5179 on it, which indicates a number produced way higher than any references i have seen for any of the collector's club knives. anyone have any idea when it was made or anything else about it?

Re: KaBar Olean, NY-Dogs Head
Hi:
does anyone know if all of the club knives were numbered? i see the congress below that has a number stamped on one of the tangs. i also have a congress just like this with the dog's head shield, but it has no number etched on any of the blades.
thanks

queen pocket knives 1958 - 1960
Hi: a guy has about 10 Queen knives on eBay at eh moment (3/13/15) listed on eBay. they all appear to be winterbottom bone. would a queen of that vintage had real bone handles as a matter of course, r would they have been imitation?
thanks

Re: Ka Bar Hunter
Thanks for the response very much from all that replied. i have some homework to do. i suspect the knife was made in the 60's or 70's, but i'll dig into these files you sent.
