Bored on a Friday night
I'm too old to party and too much of a wimp to coon hunt tonight.... So I'd thought I would go through a box of flea market (or perhaps some ebay or AAPK-procured) "stuff", looking for Colonials. When I was a kid, before I worked and could afford the higher dollar pocketknives, I carried a...

Re: What's the deal with this M3?
I suspected a similar story about this one. And nope...I paid what I feel is a fair price considering what it is. But, buying it based upon a picture and description, I thought I was getting a hell of a deal. It's like the old boy who suspected his wife was cheating on him with the milkman. A buddy ...

What's the deal with this M3?
I picked this up from a fella over the weekend based upon his description and a picture. Now that I have it...I'm not sure if it's during or post war. One side of the hand guard is ground down, the cut in the pommel is too large....look at the pics. He told me it was a Utica... The ordinance stamp i...

Miller brothers history?
Fella at work today brought in a two blade "Miller Bros" and asked me about the knife.
Of which I know very little.
Is there. Link to MB history here somewhere?

Hartkopf & co questions
I've researched Hartkopf but have found very little about their vintage "stuff". This tang stamp I have found no where. Any ideas as to age, era, etc?
This little jewel is tight, well put together in my opinion.
Any In-put would be appreciated.

Hartkopf & Co folder
my first.
I can find a bit of info about Hartkopf, but nothing about this particular knife. Picked this up in an antique shop last week. Seems to be well made, tight, etc.
Could it be military? Seems bare bones and practical in appearance.

Having trouble figuring this one out..
I first thought this was a M3 trench that had been modified by cutting/accidentally breaking the guard and the original pommel being missing. I'm not so sure now. I saw something very similar (including the cut-down guard) on eBay. Could this be a modified M4 bayonet. Any help would be very much app...

Re: Took this in on a trade yesterday...???
Just for the record, the top and bottom spacers on mine are reddish-brown. Note that one side of the top spacer is broken. I took it in on this trade with the intent of taking it apart and placing leather where the top spacer is. Now I'm having second thoughts. If any of you Schrade collectors are i...

Took this in on a trade yesterday...???
Although the handle needs a bit of work, I liked it. Any ideas of age or othe information? I'm assuming it's genuine?
The age interests me more than anything.

Were these shrapnel openers a "thing to do" after the blitz? Are there more out there?
I've been collecting WWII items for a while now and have never saw one.

M3 trench knife handle repair
I was lucky enough to come across a M3 recently. About 1/2 of the leather handle is missing.
I found a decent tutorial on replacing the leather and want to do it myself.
Any suggestions on where to obtain the leather "washers"?

Re: Could not resist...what is this?
As I said, there are no obvious markers stamps on this, but it is one fine made knife. The "balance" embedded into the wood tells me someone took some amount of pride in the making.

Could not resist...what is this?
Impulse purchase here. Noticed the handle and the fancy work on the end and bought it. Cleaned it up a bit and 'commenced to whet it. This knife is very well balanced and will make a great beaver-skinner. No stamps, no indication at all who/what/when concerning the maker. Carbon steal is holding a n...

Re: Have my eye on a M1905 bayonet...needs repairing
I finally laid the cash down for this cut-down version from a local pawn shop. The "button" was missing, so I purchased a lug/lever, a spring and a button from EBay. The seller specified that this "repair kit" came from a Pal M-1. So...I used the button from the kit, the spring f...
