Re: Seeking info on KA-BAR Union Cut Co knife
If it is 3 5/8 long closed I think it is a KA-BAR stockman 9357. Nice knife.

Re: Robeson Razor Knife
Wow! I appreciate the knowledge and your setting me straight on this knife. I do have to say I am shocked the Navy would have ordered such a light weight knife for their sailors. I have several sailor rope knives and they are all heavy duty rugged knives. I guess I still don't have a razor knife. I'...

Yup, Colonial. Most Colonials are rather poorly made knives but I'll have to say I like the looks of this one.

Robeson Razor Knife
I recently traded with a knife buddy of mine for this Robeson razor knife. Of course it breaks my heart to have that bone chip missing but this is the only pocket knife I have with a razor blade. The knife is in pretty good shape otherwise except no snap on the razor blade closing. Can someone give ...

Who Made This Knife?
I found this Brown Shoe Co. camp knife in a yard sale. At first sight I thought it looked very similar to a Remington 3333. But on closer comparison I noted several subtle differences. The major one being the R 3333 is 3 3/4 inches and the Brown is 3 9/16 " . So I wonder who made this knife for...

The length is 3 3/8 inches closed. Hard to tell in the pictures but the bolsters are "pinched". The knife is very solid with good snap and half stop.

Re: Well, Buff My LB Whittler
Everyone has their own opinion and taste. I certainly clean the dirt and grime from old knives, clean off rust and reduce stains. I my opinion what was done to this knife went too far. You take a 1oo+ year old knife and the blades look like twenty-first century. To me it just doesn't fit. But it is ...

Re: L L Bean and KaBar?
Thanks for all the input. I was thinking that if KA BAR made that knife for LL Bean it would have been marked LL Bean on the tang. But the two were together in the yard sale. I got several nice knives that day from a widow whose husband collected knives. Got this one here in Maine so it is not so su...

L L Bean and KaBar?
I was recently excited to pick up this nice KA BAR jumbo jack in an L L Bean case with sharpening steel, in a yard sale. I love the L L Bean case but I can't be sure the KA BAR is the original knife that came in this case although it is a perfect fit. Would L L Bean sell a KA BAR marked knife in the...

Thanks, Kent, for that info. You are no doubt correct. In addition to who made the knife I really want to know what the first line of the mark says.
Does anyone know?

Who Made This Knife?
I know this knife isn't very exciting or valuable. But I like it and it bugs me to have a knife and not know who made it. Can you ID it? The mark is three lines. The top line looks like 8 or 9 letters in a slight arch but I can't read them. The second line is: "N.Y. CITY" The third line is...

Maher & Grosh Horseman's knife
My best Maher & Grosh knife is this old (1900-1910?) horseman's knife made by Miller Brothers with their classic brass screws. Amazing the pick and tweezers are still with this old knife.

Re: Robeson Daddy Barlow questions.
Thanks guys for the response. You have confirmed what I had only suspected. I like the knife a lot but know it isn't very valuable due to it being relatively modern and made by Camillus for a company who merely owned the "Robeson" brand.

DSCN3472.JPG Here is one of it's fancier cousins, a whittler with fluted bolsters. It is my favorite among Remington knives. The small blade on your knife has definitely been worn down and has an altered shape, it was not made that way. Rare beautiful pattern though. Wow, that is a beauty! I can se...

Nice Remington pearl pen
Recently I did a multi-knife trade and among those I got was this Remington swell center congress pen knife which I felt was alone worth more than the knives I traded away. I believe the knife dates in the 1924-1933 time frame. The small blade looks repointed but I am not positive it wasn't made tha...

Robeson Daddy Barlow questions.
Yesterday I traded for this Robeson Daddy Barlow. I didn't know they used their strawberry stain on Delrin in addition to bone. I'm pretty sure this one is Delrin. I know the history of the Robeson brand gets complicated after Robeson stopped making their own knives. Can anyone tell me which company...

Re: Mystery Knife
Thanks guys. I like those replies as I have lots of Camillus knives but only one other Waterville. So am glad it is the Waterville.... also I believe that makes it a lot older than the Camillus mark. According to Goins the Waterville would be pre- 1890. I like 'em the older the better. Knives that is.

Mystery Knife
I picked up this "mystery" knife at a Florida yard sale. The main blade is marked "WATERVILLE Cutlery Co. Conn" which would be a pre-1890 blade. The pen blade is Camillus with the curved mark with a broken underline and dot in the middle (1902-1916) Both blades are tight with ver...

Re: Case XX 5254 no expert a little help please
Very nice. The old stag gives it real character. Interesting how stag wears down much easier than bone. I have a Case 5375 from the same time period that has stag worn down.... and like yours the stag on the mark side is much more worn than the other side.

Re: Klein 3 blade electrician's knife
Many people refer to the three blade version as a "Janitor's Knife". They consider an electrician to be only the two blade version.
I'm not saying that is a hard and fast rule, just what some people call it. I have several and they were made by many manufacturers
and for many wholesalers.
