Some good looking pets!
One of our semi-feral barn cats, Dude, was on the porch swing taking a nap in the sun this afternoon. Until I rudely interrupted him.

Re: Robeson 4 Blade
That’s a rare beauty. I call the pattern a “double gunstock”. Most are pens, all of them I have seen have either two or four blades. I have a couple of them and always looking for more. I’ll defer to those more familiar with Robesons to answer your other questions.

Re: Remington Dynamite Knife
I’d call that a sheepfoot jack. Nice knife. Looks like pretty celluloid covers, so keep an eye on it and don’t store it with other knives. The “Loom Fixer” pattern I’m familiar with has a sway back - more of a curved jack shape, with a bulbous bottom end. A search here will find many examples (keywo...

Re: Brass corrosion
I don’t have any experience with Ballistol, on either firearms or knives, so I can’t say anything one way or another about it. In general I believe there are many good products that have been developed over the years, most of them initially with firearms in mind. They happen to be good for knives an...

Range between $2.95 and $3.25 here for regular unleaded. Most places $3.09. (It was $1.79 in January 2021).

Re: Brass corrosion
When I began serious collecting some 50+ years ago most if not all of my knives at the time were carbon steel. I was also attending several knife shows each year, and actively doing some trading. For lack of anything better at the time, I used Vaseline as a preservative/protectant. I can’t share the...

Re: Case Bulldog
There are typically several Case 5172 Bulldogs available for sale on eBay at any given time. As of this afternoon I found 12 of them, having various different stamps. Using the picture Jerry (RalphAlsip) provided showing the blade stamps, and the sellers’ pictures from eBay should help with this que...

Nice old knife! As Dave recommended, use the lead (graphite) of a pencil. Scrub the blade as If you are writing or scribbling on it, especially in the areas where tarnish or rust exist. The graphite is harder than iron oxide but softer than steel so it will remove rust without damaging or removing s...

If you care, you might pay more. If you don’t care, well - you don’t care. In my experience most people don’t care. So if you’re selling, you need to find a buyer who cares.

Re: Case Bulldog
The stag 5172 was reintroduced as the “Bulldog” in early 1960s, after having been discontinued for several years. IIRC if it has HAND MADE USA on the back side of the tang and no dots it’s 1965-1969. Pre-1965 had 5172 stamp on the back of the tang.

Re: Schrade 834 brand new never sharpened
Welcome to AAPK. As has been recommended already your best source of value is an advanced search of eBay sold listings of the item. That will tell you actual selling prices of the item. Condition is of paramount importance so adjust accordingly. Approximate age can sometimes be determined by the tan...

Re: Remington Dynamite Knife
In defense of the OP, it appears his post title was taken from the article he posted, - the article’s headline calls it a “dynamite knife”. A dynamite knife, as I know it, is a wireframe jack, usually having a copper frame. ::shrug:: However there is considerable debate about that which can be found...

Bruce Voyles has been in and around the knife business about 50 years or so as a dealer, author, appraiser, etc. I've had nothing but good experiences with his auctions. He knows knives and describes them accurately. He has written a few knife books and is a regular contributor to Knife Magazine inc...
