Re: Where Are All The Remington Knife Collectors?

The R100B Dollar Knife is another well-known example of a Remington knife with a punch, but without an Acorn shield. The R4283 5 blade sowbelly is very rare to begin with, and I believe it was made with a punch which is even rarer. Not sure what the proper descriptor is for the "typical" s...

Re: Where Are All The Remington Knife Collectors?

Thanks Jerry. That stamp on mine does look stronger. ::tu:: ::tu:: That pile side cocobolo is a beauty. The R1123 and the R1128 both have flush square joints which necessitates very short tangs so it was very difficult to fit the tang stamp on the tang. It is unusual to see a clear, crisp, easy to ...

Re: Where Are All The Remington Knife Collectors?

Beautiful knife in fantastic condition. The pattern number is R1123. The R1128 has the same frame and the same blades, however the last digit of "8" indicates Cocobolo (wood) handles. The "3" and the "8" are sometimes hard to distinguish. An interesting feature of your...

Re: Case Bulldog

The attached image provides some specific information about dating the variations of the 5172 that were produced in the 1960s. One thing I would clarify on the first model is that the tang stamp of "Case XX" would indicate a generally accepted date range of 1940 to 1964, the Case XX 5172 w...

Re: CASE 6465

Seems as though there is a lot of confusion about what true "Rogers" bone is. Maybe someone can help clear up the confusion by posting some photos of antique pocketknives have jigged brown bone handles that are NOT Rogers bone. That may help educate us as to what does and does not constit...

Re: Where Are All The Remington Knife Collectors?

So as to not do it, what would you have to clean it with to make it go away? Obviously, something highly abrasive like sandpaper will remove an inked on etch, and if enough metal was removed, even an acid etch. Some chemical metal polishing agents will also harm an inked on etch. If you cannot feel...

Here’s a Rogers bone example I’ve had a while, and should have posted in this thread. Scarce W.R. Case & Sons 6227 shadow bolster pattern. Some spots and pitting on the blades but doesn’t appear to have ever been carried. Ken Fantastic knife and pattern seems unique to Case - or at least I have...

Thanks for the info. It would be nice to see a picture of one. The catalog image is from the Remington C5 catalog which I believe is from approximately 1925. This link will take you to pictures of a R7284 which is similar, but not identical to your R7084. https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/knife_...

Re: Remington knife I found

I found this old Remington knife and can't find any on the site. Was wondering if any of you collectors were familiar and could give me any information. When new, it had pearl handles and likely a shackle/bail. The final "4" in the pattern number R7084 indicates pearl handles. Likely made...

Would be interesting to know what the pen blade gave its life for. LOL I'm guessing it got broken vs sharpened that much.

Here is an advertisement for your knife.

There was another variation with Buffalo Bill branding. It is a larger knife (4 (?) inches) and bears no likeness to the man himself, only his name.
