Re: This Public Apology Is Absolutely Necessary

RD, That was a wise instructor. I have had one of that type of friend, we didn't know each other for long because I used to move often when I was in my twenties because I liked to travel. But from the moment we met we hit it off and could nearly act and react as one person. We somehow knew what the ...

Howdy Red, I'm new here and didn't have the ...ahhem...pleasure? of reading your earlier posts. Re: Needing some help with this knife!

Just out of curiosity...are those stamped bolsters or actual hand made? From my buckskinin experience anything with hand carving on it will normally cost ya regardless of the base material. That scroll work however looks stamped. I could be wrong because it's a picture after all. But a lot of the sc...

Re: Howdy everyone, I'm new and just showing my couple of ..

That 250t is the sharpest knife in the house. It is simple to sharpen with my limited supply of sharpening tools and seems to keep an edge pretty well while helping in my wife's horse feeding chores. She is not what I would call 'gentle' on knife blades. I would rather she use a box cutter but she w...

After I took the picture I washed it and sprayed some leather conditioner on it. Looks much better now. Re: 1976 Queen Folding Hunter? Maybe the Alaskan edition ?

I didn't know SS was heated? I was under the impression it was all in the metallurgy. That may actually explain why I see a softer steel in parts of my blade now. Just like the shears and moldboards on my plows, the surface steel gets worn off and the steel under it is much softer for flexibility.

Re: 1976 Queen Folding Hunter? Maybe the Alaskan edition ?

Thanks Treefarmer, I knew SS could rust depending on the grade (the construction company I worked for for over 23 years did a lot of waste water plant work) but what I wasn't certain of was the magnetic capabilities of all SS. I was under the assumption that if it was SS it was non-magnetic. ::shrug...

Re: Howdy all, I have two Bucks, one broke in half one not

Well, I was kinda thinkin of doing it myself. A 12" piece of brass and a friends end mill to gouge out the for the scales and some file and grind work on the ends, reuse the guts and the rivets can be made easy enough. Time consuming but not all that hard it seems. I have an old stag handle fro...

Nice couple of knives for sure Treefarmer! ::tu:: I was wondering what date the good one was? My etch apparently only had the crown but I don't know what was below it on the edge side. Back at ya tongueriver. I'll have to go out to the buckskinin trailer and drag out my buckskinin knives to see what I have. I buy almost any knife at consignment shops that look old. Randy, I don't know about the Alaskan name, but it looks like a Queen pattern #39, folding hunter. I have 2 of them, one I've had for years and has a lot of blade loss. The other still has the blade etch showing the pattern number 39, I purchased it from an AAPK member several years back. Neither o...
