Re: Books by Jim Sargent
These books are some of the best resources that can be found for older Case knives. Also a lot of information and photos of Remington, Robeson, Queen, and other brands. Jim was a very dear friend of mine and he taught me much of what I know today during a friendship that lasted over 15 years. I miss...

This looks like a Tested 6235 1/2 but the closed length for this model is 3 1/4". I don't see anything wrong with the knife, it is legit. The price is quite a bit higher than I'd pay for a knife in this condition. I hope this helps you out. Ricky

Maybe I can help you. I have these patterns listed during the Tested Era---1920--1940. All of the measurements listed are closed lengths. 6210 1/2 - 3 1/8" 6214 1/2 - 3 3/8" 6231 1/2 - 3 3/4" - I don't show this pattern listed with a clip master blade during the Tested Era---1920--194...

The Standard Knife Collector's Guide---5th Edition has a 5" Daddy Barlow stamped FA Bower Dist Solingen, Germany listed. They have it valued at $44.00 but I'd say that is outdated since the 5th edition was from 2007. Your knife looks to be in excellent condition. I have a couple of F.A. Bower k...

Re: Buck Yearling - Unknown Date Code?
Good morning Steve (Knifeaholic) Here is what I found on the Buck 700 series. It looks like the first 709 models were shipped in September,1981. The earliest of the 700 series knives had a three line tang stamp, Buck/Script Model #/U.S.A. The shield was imprinted with Buck in old English script. Buc...

Well, I'm up late working on my knife inventory. I'm finding knives I've completely forgotten about. We've not had any shows around here for three or four years and it is amazing how much knives of the same brand and patterns are selling for on the Bay as opposed to what I had on my stickers for the...

Re: Off the Charts !!!
JonTerry, No, I wouldn't assume your knife is made with 441 steel. The knife mentioned in the article was a 703 Colt, of which a run of around 4800 knives were made with 441 steel. As for the dot before the year stamping on the 1987 model 619, who knows? It could be just about anything. I'm not an e...

Re: Off the Charts !!!
JonTerry, I have a model 619 here somewhere mint in the box. It too has the dot before the marking. I researched this marking since I hadn't seen it before and I came across an article that at least satisfied my curiosity. As you know, Buck started their date code system in 1986. This article states...

Re: UPDATE: 2023, How is the current economy affecting your knife buying?
We used to have knife and gun shows four times a year locally. The guy that operated those shows shut them down before the covid hit. We don't have many other places to sell around here so I've cut my knife buying down to the point that unless it is a really good deal I just pass them up. I have way...

Mornin' folks---We are currently sitting at 36* with a high projected to be around 41* here in NW Alabama on the mountaintop. Nothing but heavy rain and a lot of high winds here to report from yesterday's storms. They weren't so lucky/blessed to the South and East of us as I saw reports of at least ...

Well, it is Christmas morning, 12:13 am. It is currently 19 degrees here on top of the mountain with a forecast low of around 14 degrees or so. I'm in the process of doing some cooking, getting ready for a gathering of the kids and grandkids later today. Right now I'm waiting for the cornbread that ...

I have quite a few older Bulldog and Fight'n Rooster knives with celluloid scales that I bought over the years. In time a good many of them have begun to show signs of outgassing, some are a lot worse than others, but once they start they will eventually worsen. I wasn't very well educated on the do...

Good morning everyone. It's 60* headed to a high of 83* here in Northwest Alabama. It is supposed to get colder with frost and freeze possible early next week. It has been very dry here for the last month. We did get a good rain Wednesday night and early Thursday morning, but not enough to relieve t...

Re: Pocketeze 423480
Hey Ridgegrass, There is a 423480 pattern listed in the 5th Edition of the Standard Knife Collector's Guide. It is for a serpentine jack but that's about all the information it gives. The knife pictured in their guide doesn't give a good representation of the pattern. But I'd say for certain you are...

I too am retired, along with the wife. I've cut way back on my knife purchases in the last couple of years. I have picked up a few at the local flea market and pawn shops, but I got good deals on them. I have more knives than I need and the gun & knife shows I used to set up at have been shut do...

I have one of these Imperials around here somewhere. In my opinion it is not a junk knife at all. Mine is very well made and tight with no side-to-side play. I was told they were produced in the 1970's but I haven't been able to verify that. Maybe someone else will come along later with more informa...
