You can make a quick tool out of an old screwdriver (or something similar) provided the tip is wide enough. Just grind out a notch in the center portion so that you have a fork that will fit over the threaded tang and into the slots.

Re: folding pocket knife manufactured on 8/7/02
I don't think you'll ever find a knife that was manufactured on that specific date. Even those dated Case knives might have been boxed on that date but certainly weren't made then. It takes days or weeks to make a factory knife as the parts are run in large batches in specific steps from start to fi...

Re: What reason for rope blade shape?
Wow you guys offered up a fantastic education tonight! I could see where the sheep foot blade shape would be more a personal safety feature than a knife fight preventative. If you were to loose grip on it in rough seas or through wet hands you'd be less likely to accidentally stab yourself by fallin...

Re: It's a killer knives
The top of the tang stamp is pitted, the bottom letters are fine and match up with the top. Nothing wrong there. Walden isn't present on the stamp at all. It's also a legit Crucible pattern. Here's another one that's an almost identical match:

First do mean tangs? It's not clear to me. I see pitted original tang stamps. Can you explain what you see?

Cody I believe Cooper owns that trademark now, which seems so ridiculous to me as he's in Ohio and has zero relationship to NY Knife Co. I know Imperial kept the Hammer Brand trademark up but I don't know if they ever used the New York Knife Co name themselves.

I agree with these guys, nothing wrong with any of those knives as far as I can tell. He's been around forever and I've never known him to pass off anything even remotely resembling a fake. I'd buy off him (and have) with no hesitation. BTW those stamps are pitted, it's something common you see on o...

Dan, does that mean manufactured by Schrade for Simmons or Shapleigh Hardware before the Val-Test era, manufactured by Schrade for Val-Test, or manufactured and sold by Schrade using Frost Cutlery's trademark? If ea42 is correct about it dating to the early1940s, I guess the answer is self evident....

Re: Unique Marbles Hatchet Question
I've regularly seen those old fireman''s axes sell for around $100, and that's with obscure marks or no marks. With a well known mark like Marples, and an old one at that, it might have been worth quite a bit more, even with a cracked flange and rust. The deep gouges near the mark would have definit...

Re: Unique Marbles Hatchet Question
Greetings! That's not Marbles, it's W. Marples and Sons out of Sheffield England. They made tools, chisels, hatchets, etc. and I believe they're still in business today. Started in the 1800's. Too deeply ground and over polished to have any value.

Andy that looks to be early 1940's. Beautiful looking knife, they don't often come along with nice full blades. Value is totally subjective but I'd estimate somewhere between $100 and $150. Of course that's going by one photo and not seeing it in hand.

Re: What causes this?
The horn is trying to curl back to its original shape and since the liners are pinned to it it's taking them with it. Kind of a common thing with thick horn handles. They stop at a certain point, probably where they are now. Short of putting on new handles or taking those off and re-sanding them fla...

I'd contact Moore Maker, they have records of all their knives and most knives have the model number and/or date which makes the search even easier for them. Probably Queen, early 2000's but I'm just guessing here.

My thoughts also. I’ve never seen that blade configuration on a NYK? Me either. Can't recall ever seeing a pruning blade in a NYK equal end and the blade behind the pen blade has been seriously shortened so no idea what that one would have originally looked like. You can see the tip sticks up way a...

I'll second that. Kingston was a combined effort between Ulster and Imperial during the war. Dissolved in 1947. Imperial patented that can opener. Applied in Nov.'44 and granted Dec '45 so the knife probably falls between those two patent dates.

Re: Side to Side Blade Movement on Custom LB when closed
If it's assembled with just a pivot pin, the pin has to be be peened more to bring the liners together and remove the slop. If there's a bushing the same applies, but there's also the possibility that the bushing is too wide, preventing the liners from coming together. If the hole in the blade is a ...

I might be mistaken but I believe that's a Colonial knife. Colonial did a ton of advertising knives for Dole. Probably from the '80's, maybe '90's.

It sure didn't get much right , maybe the tang stamp dates? (I'm not well versed on Winchesters). The OP knife appears to be a sleeveboard design with bone handles, not a teardrop with celluloid. The problem with AI (currently) is that it's limited to what it can scour off of the web. That might be ...

Schrade made a couple of folders in collaboration with Warren Tool Co that were specifically for whittling. Warren specializes in carving and woodworking tools. Fred Clark, who owns the company, is an avid whittler.

Thanks the closed length is 3-1/4 I believe we have the same knife lol! That would be model 348. At some point they dropped the double pull (older) in favor of just the long pull (newer) on the spear blade. I think that would have been around the late '20s to early '30s but I can't nail it down any...

Ja-sta1959 what's the closed length on that guy? The older Ulsters are hard to date, could have been made anywhere from the late 1800's to around 1940 but I might be able to give you a model number.
