Re: A Few Knives by Eric Albers

I agree. That bloke is a legend, and a particularly nice guy to boot. I too am predicting under 1 minute for the Lambsfoot. That knife is going to be super special.

Re: The Schrade~Jernigan Story

Thank you Tom. It is always good to get the 'nod' from the original owner of the Jernigan. As you might remember, I was quite surprised that you would part with such a prestigious knife, but particularly excited that you did. I am also aware of some of the enormous collection of knife you possess an...

A Few Knives by Eric Albers

Over the years I have been extremely fortunate to acquire a few knives made by Master Cutler Eric Albers of Albers Cutlery Co. Eric’s knives are much sought after, mainly because his reputation and cutlery skills are admired by many collectors and as soon as his emails are sent out, the frenzy comme...

Re: The Schrade~Jernigan Story

Hal, you have one of the biggest Schrade collections around and know more than most about Schrade knives, in your opinion what would you class the 3 most important Schrade knives produced to be?

Re: The Schrade~Jernigan Story

Cal, this is the 100th Anniversary Bowie that was fitted with Stag scales in Texas. Eric has made mention of the Diamond encrusted Bowie now being in Europe.
Eric has one of the original 6 with Rams Horn scales.

Re: The Schrade~Jernigan Story

I am pleased that you like it Eric. Between you and me (and the rest of AAPK) that process took a lot of time and money, but when it was all done and I stood back and had a good look at it, I was quite pleased with myself. That set could stand tall in any collection now. What appealed to me the most...

Re: The Schrade~Jernigan Story

Cal, I would say that the Diamond encrusted Bowie would have to be #1 and a toss up between the Jernigan and the 100th Anniversary Bowie with the Rams Horn scales/Stag scales for #2. That statement would receive some conjecture from some of the boys, I am sure.

Than you Cal. That one was a long journey, but on completion....worth every hour and Dollar.

You are right about the cold...and rain. We have has a foot in 3 days and there is no sign of it stopping any time soon. Flooding and damage everywhere up and down the East Coast.

The Schrade~Jernigan Story

As the older members of this group will remember Tom Chase was very fortunate to acquire the original Prototype knife from Steve Jernigan. Tom was the custodian of the knife for some 6-7 years when he decided to pass it on to me. In the bundle was the knife, a large hard-backed Poster (2' 1" x ...

Re: Schrade Walnut Box-Help needed

Thanks Bob. Yes it is a super box, and the knife that was in it was a PH1 "Budweiser-Salutes Texas Ducks Unlimited". An amazingly good set, but they aren't a matching set...pity, and it is driving me nuts trying to find out what knife the box was made for.
Cheers mate,
Tony.

Schrade Walnut Box-Help needed

This Schrade hinged box has come into my possession, and it is one that I have never seen before. The Boar laser etch is a beauty, and it is driving me crazy not knowing the history of it. The inside liner is for a PH1, and that's all I know, although one of the guys hinted that it could have been f...

Re: Vale - Herman Williams

Ken98K
Herman used to shape some 51OT's like that, and also use that handle material.
He always signed his work though, if not to the pile side tang, then on the inside liner.
If you have either of these then it is a genuine "Williams Masterpiece", and you are a very fortunate man.

WOW Dale what an amazing trip for you both. I saw some pics on Facebook with the Bears frollicking in the water and some lucky bloke catching a fish. The countryside looked spectacular, but i didn't know where it was. I went to Alaska once a few years back and it is a wonderful place indeed. You cer...

Re: Some Sad Red Trout Knives News

Thank you Eric. I considered myself a close friend of Rich's even though we had never met as i am in Australia, but we were good phone buddies and we used to chat every couple of weeks or so. He told stories and i listened and he told some beauties and i suspect they were true. Rich did more in a on...

You have done some wonderful work on those ones Derek. The TL-29 is a good solid knife and you have shown some very imaginative variations of them. I never tire at looking at your work.

Meridian_Mike
I only have one, but it is a beauty. I sent it to Dale some years ago with my thoughts on a mod and he exceeded all my expectations.
The original knife was a white scaled Utica TL-29....and well i will let you see the fine work Dale did on this one.

Re: Anyone like opinel,

I only own 1 Opinel and i hate it. There is nothing i like about this set of knives.
That may surprise some people, but that is the way it is.
What's more is that this is the only style of knife that does nothing for me.

Re: Help needed finding an allusive Scrimshaw knife.

jxr1197 Many thanks for seeking out the knife i am after Jase. Unfortunately neither of them are the right knife. Check out this pic for comparison. The front Duck's head is crunched down on his body and there are more reeds in front of him. Both knives were produced in 89 and my original pic is off...

Help needed finding an allusive Scrimshaw knife.

I am at my wits end trying to purchase one of these Scrimshaw knives. I haven't seen it come up on Ebay for the past 6 months and i am now seeking the help from the many Scrimshaw collectors on AAPK. This knife is an 505SC Stockman from the 1989 American Outdoors Collection and features two Ducks on...

Re: schrade scrimshaw

I am a big fan of the Scrimshaw knives, but unfortunately i have only one that hasn't popped up yet. It is an original artwork done by Frank which he sold at a Garage sale he was having at his home. This one is special to me and was supplied by Eric Albers.

Cal, it is very distressing to hear of another of our good friend passing. It is probably even harder for you as i know how close you were to Doug Webber who passed recently. I particularly miss that guy.
