Re: A.J. Anderson, Fort Worth, Texas on the tang
Interesting ole knife, I too am a history nut, I live just about 30 miles west of Big Springs, Ne where in 1877 Sept 18 he and 4 other guys robbed the Union Pacific Train and got away with $60000 worth of gold coins and cash. The biggest train robbery at that time. I have never run into a A.J. Ander...

Hard to say what it is, could be a knife make for a taxidermist for caping out or trimming around the skull. Looks well made. We will keep guessing. Terry

I have worked with a lot of stag and antler. It never looks the same on both sides, if it did, I would say it's probably man made material. That's why I like it! got character. Terry

Re: Show off your fixed blades!
Nice buck TR, I have never run on to a stag handled buck. I have an old 425 bucklite that I have used forever, sorry not a fixed blade but I like it. I have noticed that a lot of newer hunters carry a huge knife, most of us older type like a smaller knifer like your 102, in my opinion plenty big eno...

Re: Jimmy Lile knife
The way I would deal with this type of transaction is to ask them what they want for it, if the guy was a knife trader, they shoulld have an idea what he paid for it and start from there, I don't put a price on someone elses items. (I have been doing this type of thing for a long time). People that ...

Re: Jimmy Lile knife
Jimmy Life is a famous knife maker from Arkansas, died in 1991 I believe. He is known for his Rambo Knife. I haven't seen any folders sell so I can't help you out on price, a Lile collector would be interested I assume. It does look like stag was used for the handle, although it is a little pale in ...

Just made this one for our local pheasants forever banquet March 4th at Sidney, Ne. I call it a spear point, damascus with cross cut mammoth ivory handle, something a little different. My 14th or 15th knife I have made for them, to be on the live auction. thanks for looking.

no info on the maker but like Wayne said it is walrus ivory and the maker got it too hot when he sanded it and caused the crazing (light black cracks). Terry

Re: Pre-ban Ivory
I could talk for hours on this subject but not going to. As far as "owning" ivory,, it is not against the law. No interstate sales however. Once you saw a set of scales out of a tusk, how does the maker prove where it came from? So the burden of proof is next to impossible. I use only mamm...

I have this George Wostenholm knife that I thought was a grafting knife, not I'm not so sure. It is ivory with a 3 inch blade and is 4" closed, 6" open. It looks a little fragile for a bark separator. so maybe it is a Library knife, what are your opinions?

Sure looks like it has been ground a bunch, they completely removed the fuller. They did however do a pretty good job of removing the grind marks. Also looks like the saw teeth are ground down some also. Still a nice old knife. Terry

Nice find, I did some rough measuring and it looks like about 4 inches wide and about 5 or 6 inches long. and appears to hold 2 knives. I believe your 1915 date to right on. Terry

Looks to me like a custom made knife that was made to look like a 1800's coffin handled bowie. Also could have been called a boot knife, or gamblers knife. Looks pretty well made but not made by a well known maker. Most makers would have stamped their name on the blade. Terry

Re: Wards Pocket Knife-made by Western?
Nice old knife! It is really hard to put a price on used knives, depends on condition a lot. If you put it on ebay, take good close up and in focus photos of every position and start a low 7 or 5 day auction and see what happens. I would think it should be worth 25 to 100 bucks but that is just a wi...
