Re: sharpening supplies?
I agree that my system is a bit pricey, but this is what I enjoyed learning most and is what others encouraged me to do. I guess it depends on how serious you might take your hobby as to which method is best for you. Any that you choose will still be enjoyable and maybe a little frustrating in the b...

Re: sharpening supplies?
I agree with stones, however I really like the DMT Diamond sharpener(coarse/fine) small and can be used wet or dry. I also use a 300 & 600 double sided diamond honing block, then an ultra fine ceramic which really finishes the blades nicely and removes any burr. Also get a strop and compounds, y...

Re: GREAT EASTERN PRIVATE LABEL, CLUB KNIVES & SFO's
These were right up my alley. I got my hands on a 2 blade Yellow and an Ivory LL which I cannot keep my hands off. I love 2 blade jack's, but this liner lock is sweet. It is what I consider my first real traditional liner lock. My Case Russlock and Trapperlock just don't compare IMO. Would love to s...

Re: Booth Bros. Sussex NJ
If the knife is not correct and you bought it from a fellow AAPK member's store I think all you need do is contact them. I am batting a thousand with AAPK members; NEVER had an issue (quite the opposite of my e-bay experience!) Knowledgeable collectors can be fooled too, I will bet that an AAPK dea...

Finding out that the shield is in fact pinned. Upon lifting it a little the pin is exposed.

Re: Booth Bros. Sussex NJ
It looks to me like someone put a Booth Bros. master blade in a Voos knife frame, then added the shield ::nod:: I have yet to see an original Booth Bro`s with Rogers jigged bone handles. I think you could possibly be correct, which doesn't make me very happy having bought this from someones AAPK st...

Re: Booth Bros. Sussex NJ
I don't know when, where or by whom the shield was put on the knife, but if you espand the photo and look, the shield is just laying on a dollop of cement, glue, whatever. Charlie Noyes That's why I started this thread. Just looking for a bit of insight though. Would others leave it or try to remov...

Re: Booth Bros. Sussex NJ
It sits on top of the bone scales. There is no cut into the bone that I can see. Hopefully the person I bought it from could add some info on it. The knife otherwise is built really well. It's hefty, snaps hard, bone on it is in really good shape and thick. I don't have any other Booth Bros. to comp...

Re: Booth Bros. Sussex NJ
Prior to adopting the Thunderbird patch, the swastika was associated with the 45th Infantry Division of the Army National Guard (OK, AZ, CO, and NM), so the SW US version of the insignia and the time period of your knife would be historically correct. By the way, I have seen vintage 45th INF DIV pa...

Booth Bros. Sussex NJ
So, being from NJ I'm always looking for some lost treasures from home. I've always found Booth brothers NJ knives to be rare finds, at least in good condition. This was listed in the AAPK store last week so I grabbed it. I got it today and I'm really impressed with the construction of this knife. T...

Since I got 4 of them I'm carrying the Ebony 2bl until my Ebony 1bl arrives. The Rust and Saddle I might want to keep untouched, at least for now, they are pretty!

Looking to get my hands on a #76 Copperhead Jig or Ole Jack. I know these are keepers for most folks, but I had to give it a shot here!

New NJ member, lurked for too long
Hello AAPK, This is the first forum I have ever joined in my 17 years online...LOL I love traditional ol' school knives Made in the USA. I have learned quite a bit lurking here on and off for over a year or so, however, in that past year I have become extremely fond of slipjoints. I don't follow any...
