Re: Germany - Multi Tool With Glass Cutter.
I was fascinated by this journey on this knife pattern. From the beginning of the posts up to the present. Knife history and usage is my favorite part of the "hobby" I started to think the glass cutter may also be a crude can opener. But the later posts by the OP showed both the glass cutt...

Re: camillus #72
Going..... ALL 12 of my FIRST GENERATION 72's have a half stop for the coping blade. I don't doubt all 1st generation 72s have that feature. It just surprised me it was there. If I'd carried it some , it would have been noticed a lot sooner. Think I've owned it maybe about 10 years. Thanks New Wind...

Re: camillus #72
Going through the above posts on the model 72 and I noticed something for the first time when I started to look at my 72s and clones. I have about 7 of these knives - 4 camillus ( 3 standard issue, 1 scout) 2 schrade ( schrade and older schrade Walden) 1 imperial (scout) OK, to the point now. I land...

Why even post this here?
Not really a funny story.

That knife takes a wicked sharp edge.
And the old style sheath was a bonus. I believe they were changed as the blade was cutting the strap.

Re: When Is It Time To Say Goodbye ?
I've been collecting pocket knives for over fifty years now. I have somewhere north of 1000 knives. Much as I'd like to, I know I'm not going to live forever (in this realm). We spend years of our time, and lots of our money gathering up a pile of knives. When is it time to start saying goodbye to ...

Re: 74 case splitback whittler hard to open?
This fix isn't for everyone but I finally fixed the pen blade on the Case 6208 half whittler. This pattern is a single spring early 70's knife. It was so hard to open I had to use Pliers. After trying a number of the usual suggestions I finally used a rotary tool with a cut off wheel to increase the...

Finally found one of these at a decent price. This is reserved for retirement in about 5 or 6 years when my wife and I move to Eastern North Carolina. We have a house near Plymouth but gonna move their soon... hopefully. All I can think about is walking on the beach with my wife looking for seashel...

Like someone tried to turn it into a weird Canoe pattern, or they really wanted an easy opener.
Either way, a knife world crime.

Serpentine Jack ( e. g. Case 6244 or 6232)
Serpentine Pen ( 3" to 3 1/2" , single spring) but the equal end Pen is a close decision here.

Thanks, you got back to me right about the time I figured it out. Had login issues, started with new tablet, and due to my own ignorance couldn't get on the site. Then I gave up and went back to just reading posts. That was about six months ago. A post about nailbreaker springs, prompted me back int...

Thanks,

Re: Strong Springs, Too Strong
After reading this hours ago, it reminded me that I have a Case 6308, 6208, a Muskrat, and maybe another Case, or two. that have blades that can't be opened without a damn pliers. So I keep my 6208 with the pen blade open in a box with my fixed blade whittling knives. I was determined to free up the...

Re: Sharpening question
Yes, stay with it. The Lansky system is very good and you can learn a lot from using it. Sounds like you are on the right track, keep sharpening and pay attention with your thumb pad, fingernail, and eyeball the edge Apex. Some people get their edge and continue to sharpen only to lose the Apex of t...

Re: The Venerable Old Barlow
This is an Imperial shell handled Barlow that I just finished customizing just for the "halibut". Used the blades and springs from the original, made new liners, bolsters, elk stag rehandle. I went with kind of a "faceted" bolster look with domed pivot pin. Am now toting it in m...
