Re: Remington's RH Pattern Fixed Blade Knives

Well my friend welcome to AAPK!! Still the best knife forum on the net! It’s been a long time since I’ve posted but I thought I could lend a hand to your question. A little rusty but here’s a go... The information shared is from “Identification Guide To Remington Sheath Knives 1925-1940” by: D.Y. Gr...

Re: Newer vs. older Remingtons

I am still trying to lift my jaw from the floor after reading the last post from Modern Slip Joints! Why would anyone begin a debate or discussion on a topic they have no experience with or knowledge there of. The knives produced by Remington in the 1920’s and 1930’s were manufactured for the common...

Re: Where Are All The Remington Knife Collectors?

John just a quick comment. The two companies in discussion were not affiliated with one another other than in companies manufacturing shoes and participating in the sales of shoes. They may have bought or rented machinery from United but were in competition with one another in the Market in the 1920...

Re: Where Are All The Remington Knife Collectors?

In my humble opinion these knives may be “lunchbox knives” or a few were “made special at request with horn scales” by an executive or someone else. “I do not believe they were normal production line knives.” Remington’s inspectors and craftsmen of that time period would not have allowed the pattern...

Re: Where Are All The Remington Knife Collectors?

Given the nature of events in that era I would agree with the idea that there are three separate production eras in Remington’s cutlery division. The start up or heyday era... I might extend that time frame to 1928 or 1929 based on the tradesman catalogs and the catalogs we have reference to today f...

Re: Where Are All The Remington Knife Collectors?

Careful...I am a purest! When you make a statement such as that you are leaving the back door wide open for the re-constructionist of original production made knives...forgers if you will, through the market door. Remington was extremely precise in their craftsmanship related to many things one of w...
