Re: Any Kershaw fans out there?
While I have a bunch of the flippers/SpeedSafe like the Leek composite, 3 Skyline's (black, blue, brown), Zing, Speedform II, my favorite Kershaw's are the semi-traditional Double Duty and Double Cross: https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/images/forum_archives/p18-zippofan_photos-doublecross.jpg ht...

Re: Zippo Knife Thread
Someone say Zippo? I actually only have one since I concentrated on collecting the lighters. I carried a Cut About Jr for years until I discovered SAKs. I'll have to get a pic, though it's a bit beat up. I have some others that were made by Case for Zippo, one with the "Windy" gi...

Re: JBF Champlin & Sons
I was lucky enough to contact Mike in time to reserve one of the Eureka's in stag, and met him yesterday to pick it up and chat knives for a few minutes. First, the knife, as you guys have all seen, it's terrific! I'm now officially spoiled on stag, my Eureka is the nicest I have (and I thought my l...

Re: Royal Ranger 'RangerLite'
I wish Buck still made these. I managed to pick up a mint Scoutlite &sheath right after the holidays as part of a lot of other, less well maintained BSA knives. When I took it to our annual Klondike Derby everyone wanted to check it out. I'd so love to recommend one of these to parents of my Sco...

Can't wait for these Eureka Jack's to be released :D I noticed you're in Honesdale Mike, looking forward to get back there this summer. I never miss the Roots and Rhythm festival downtown, with a stop off at Day's Bakery for some goodies on the way back to the lake in Wayne County. My wife always ha...

Re: Affordable American Made Knives
A Bear delrin small stockman (3 1/2") I bought over the summer at a general store counter display for <$20 has proven to be a nice knife. Fit and finish are acceptable at the price point and it has gotten hard use. I've also picked up a couple of Utica stockmans, not on the level of GEC/Queen/C...

Nice stuff Scot ::tu:: Do you Guys think my Hubertus scout camper belongs here? It's probably already in here but what the heck ::shrug:: I've been ogling those Hubertus Scouts now for awhile, especially the ones with the fleur-de-lis and Pfadfinder (Pathfinder) etched on the blade. Unfortunately m...

Re: what is your favorite knife steel ?
While I appreciate the ease at which even a sharpening novice like myself can get a good edge on 1095 and Case's CV, I'm not a patina guy. I see a pepper spot and get bummed, so as a result find myself preferring stainless, or at least semi stainless like D2 My current favorite is the 14-4 CrMo that...

Re: Mail Call, Post Your New GECs.
Outlaw came today ::ds:: You're right about each having its own identity, I haven't seen two pics the same yet of this rootbeer including mine. I'm really lovin this new GEC acrylic, and if there are any left in a couple weeks I think I'm going for one of those blue corduroy Maverick's too. And then...

Re: 76 Outlaw Gunstock Jack
Root Beer should be here today! I hope there will be enough Ole Jack Gunstocks left or if they've all been reserved (fingers crossed). I think there will be three packages in the mail today, the Root Beer and a 66 Calf Roper in one, two Case in another (G-10 stockman, medium '087 jack), and a Case B...

I'll be on the lookout for the Ole' Jack too, love that shield with the jigged bone. If I can snag one it'll be the first time I've bought the exact same pattern from GEC with different handles, not counting the blade variations of the 25 and 66.

Re: New Release #76 Outlaw
I wish GEC did the Root Beer acrylic on the Northfield Outlaw. As soon as the jigged bone 76's are out I'm all over one! I've never figured out GEC's approach to acrylic. I have a Northfield 66 jack in acrylic, and the upcoming Ben Hogan lockback will have a NF version with acrylic, but then others ...

You guys got me drooling here...got some homegrown heirloom tomatos out of my mother-in-law's garden yesterday, so it's tomato and bacon sandwiches for lunch today! Here ya go Mike: https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/images/forum_archives/p18-zippofan_photos-casebarlow.jpg But it's barnboard jigged bone, I should have said that, sorry about that. Sweet knife, the ATS-34 blades were sharp out of the box though not shaving sharp. Fit and finish are good, the pu...

Re: Camping Knives...What do ya take?
We took our Troop out to Ricketts Glen State Park in PA this past weekend to hike the waterfalls trail, and I took two new knives plus a couple old friends. My Blind Horse Camp MUK arrived just in time, it's a heck of a slicer which I put to good use for food prep. My Tidioute Montana Whittler came ...

Anyone know if the Congress carver is all Solingen or not? It's caught my eye but for the price I want all German. I see this all the time with wrist watches and it can get very controversial, especially when it involves some expensive Swiss specialty brands (>$2000) with parts and/or assembly in As...
