Re: Aquired 2 Camillus mysteries
Yes, this knife is similar to the pattern #78/3, which was used to make the model #67 (and many many others), but I have never seen such a main blade with this pattern. In addition, the color and texture of the handle confuses me. These are similar to the knives that Camillus made for Remington in t...

Re: Camillus Knife Year & Pattern Name/Number
I also think this was made in the early 60's, before the Cabone trade mark began.
By the way, Cabone is a synthetic material (probably Delrin). The name comes from CAmillus BONE. Camillus used it from the mid-60s to the mid-70s.

Re: Camillus Knife Year & Pattern Name/Number
Believe you have a jr. cattle knife if it’s 3 and 3/8 long closed. The 1967 catalog shows a number 75 with a clip main .sheepfoot and pen secondaries. Hi JP! It seems to me that this is more like the military Air Corps knife (pattern 14, 3-5/8" closed) that Camillus made during WW2 and later. ...

Re: Damn celluloid
Regarding the Winchester's from the 80's and 90's, it was known that the material was likely to outgas overtime. My grandfather worked at the Queen factory at that time, and they warned the customer that the material was known to become unstable. But they were told to replicate the look of older kn...

Re: Damn celluloid
I have studied many articles on this topic and none of them give an exact answer as to why this happens and how to prevent it. For myself, I concluded that knives 20-40 years old are more dangerous than 50+ years old. Now my dangerous and potentially dangerous knives are in a box with a transparent ...

Re: Damn celluloid
Maybe the really old ones that were going to outgas dissolved before I ever saw them. ::handshake:: This thought has occurred to me many times. :D I have several old knives with celluloid handles in excellent condition, but I've seen pictures of similar models that look like they came out of a fire...

Re: Repro Bullet Knife list
This link you sent me, it opens in that real nice list, but if you hit the back button it takes you to the pictures, which is very nice. However, the first pictured knife there says "1972" and then goes to 1983 and I think I am reading that the reproduction program started in 1982. Is thi...

Re: Repro Bullet Knife list
So, 2022 had two "annual bullet knives" and the other years just had one? No, it’s just that in 2022, for the first time, Bullet and Silver Bullet knives were made by different manufacturers. Therefore they are separated in the table. Original table here https://vit213.narod.ru/remington/...

Re: 2001, 2002 Bullet Knives
So, what happens if you keep them in some kind of airtight contraption. I suspect if it takes to outgassing it'd really jack the knife up, but wouldn't it be jacked up regardless? And wouldn't that protect the other knives? ::shrug:: https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/knife_forum/viewtopic.php?t=...

Re: My No Line Family
#83 gives me some doubts. The color of the handle looks like it was from the 60s, which means there should be a long line (which there is room for). Maybe it was a defective stamp?
I would really like to see a macro photo of the tang stamp...
