Re: Anyone collect Schrade from 2000-2004
I really don't consider myself a collector as I use all my knives but I do have a few from 2000-2004. A 194OT Gunstock trapper, a 3OT Bearhead, a 96 OT Trapper, a 98 OT Stockman (SS blades), a 34 OT Middleman, a 285 UH Trapper, and an SWL2 Lake & Walker Liner Lock. All were relatively inexpensiv...

Re: Showing some props for the 18 pattern Stockman
The 18 pattern is my favorite and I was finally able to get a 6318 w/ Punch that I just ordered from Shepherd Hills. I've wanted the Punch version for a long time, they seem hard to find.

Re: Buck 500 series
Anyone have any production numbers or guesses on 500 series knives produced with Micarta handle covers? And which models they did with Micarta? I think it's a 503 my Dad has with brown/Burgundy Micarta it's so worn out the back lock doesn't hold under any pressure. I have always wanted a White Knig...

Re: How do you carry the 301?
I see video reviews all the time with the reviewer pushing on the back of the blade showing how week the spring tension is. Well they're are slipjoints not lock blades. I just tested a new Buck 301 a Camillus made 301 & a `1996 made 303, a Case '96 6318, a Case '15 6318, a Case '00 63087 and a 3...

Re: How do you carry the 301?
I have three 301's and a 4th on the way. I personally like the spring tension on them. Of course I use mine only to cut with I don't pry or stab so I never have problem. Spring tension seems about the same as my Case knives.

Can't wait, will post some pics. Not a bad turn around! Here's a before pick, from Ebay. I forgot to ta...

Re: Let's See Your 112s!
Since we are talking Buck 112 on this thread I found this on ebay . I don't know how to post the listing but if you put in the search. Supreme FW09 Buck knife 112 it should come up. There are 2 listed under this heading. Why are they so expensive? $500.00 and $600.00  Don't know where they c...

Re: Staying securely closed
Carry the knife IN YOUR POCKET. The blade, still tip down, will be against the back seam of the pocket and will not open. It will also be more secure against loss and theft. Clipped outside the pocket is just asking for problems.

Re: UNION CUT. CO. OLEAN N. Y.
Your knife appears to be a pre-war era model 71. Model 71 was available with several handle options including stag, fiber washer, leather, and celluloid, most with aluminum pommels fixed with a brass spanner or barrel nut. You mention it looks like a smaller version of the famed USMC KA-BAR, well, ...

Re: UNION CUT. CO. OLEAN N. Y.
I know this is an old thread, but I have and old KA-BAR blade that I re-handled in wood. The blade in 5" long and resembles the USMC Kabar. Stamped on one side of the is KA-BAR (Pat Pending?? underneath) and on the reverse side is "Union Cutlery Co. Olean NY". I found the blade quite ...

Re: Old case. Case vs case XX steel ?
I've wondered this ... I have a couple circa 1980 or early 80's Case's that are stainless, and they just get "sticky" sharp - it's a whole different feel than the more modern Case era stainless. It's just an intuitive thing - they just feel sharper coming off the exact same Lansky sharpen...

Re: When Is It Time To Say Goodbye ?
When I retired from LE at age 52 my collection was small ( about 40 Case, Schrade & Victorinox) and has grown to about 125, not counting the 20 or so I have given to grandchildren. I too thought I would have years to collect and enjoy, BUT at age 65 in August of last year I was diagnosed with St...

My contribution is a Craftsman copy of the Schrade 194OT. Got when I was still in high school back in 1971. I also have a medium stockman that I need to take a picture of.

Re: Case 61549L "Copperlock"
The only thing CopperLocks have in common with 49 pattern CopperHeads is the CopperHead bolster hump that shields the corner of the blade tang when the blade is closed. That is exactly correct. *1549L was a brand new pattern introduced in 1998. Most were bone, hence the 6, one blade (1), pattern 54...

Great thread! But while I like the 07 I still prefer the full size '54 Trapper. Not that much larger and rides well either in my pocket or a belt sheath.

A Buck 301 is part of my EDC rotation along with larger and smaller knives such a Case large Trapper, large & medium Stockman and I always carry a Vic Pioneer (suspended in my LFP) . As for my daily carry whether 301 or a 6375 it's carried in my right front pocket. Does it "print"? Yes...
