Taking a toll on us

Drove to Gettysburg, PA a while back and had no idea of what route to use. I got on the PA Turnpike and cruised right along. I noticed they had signs up and I did drive through toll booths, but no one was in them. I didn't assume anything out of the ordinary was going on. Got a bill for $52.60 yeste...

My Friend Larry

I was going to post this in the Veteran's or Upper Room forums, but this is a subject that might affect many people so I thought I could reach more here. Larrry was a hard-working man that has reached the point in life where he is starting to fall apart. If you're a person that prays send a prayer u...

Re: On Line Auction

Here is another one I noticed this morning that in an on-line auction near me. The auction title says - VNTG Knife Collection and that's all. There are a few other pics, but none of the pics show the knives with the blades open. Based on what you can see what would you bid on these without knowing t...

Re: On Line Auction

I wanted to come in and update this. Jim was right the first knife in the box with the most pictures is a well-made German knife. The blades walk & talk. It was the main reason I wanted to bid on the lot. BTW the blades on this knife are just fine. This is a very comparable knife that is listed ...

Re: On Line Auction

I'll give others a chance to look at this and post but will come back within a few days and post more pics of the actual knives that were in the lot. The pics already posted were used in the auction. It's not so much of a question of what you see is what you get. It's more like hope for the best but...

On Line Auction

What do you think you get if you' win this on-line auction? The pics are all you have to go by and that can be very deceptive. Look them over and post your answer. I know we have "experts" on here that profess to have the ability to read a knife in a shoe box with the lid closed, but my ex...

Quite a Display

Won this knife and nothing unusual about 6207 mini-trapper. Very shocked to find it was in a 14" x 17" hard shell case with much information on the knife and Case Cutlery. I didn't take time to look this up but think it is from the 1990's. I imagine most of these have been broke open and t...

Re: Case Salesman samples??

One thing you might try is contacting both Case and Shepherd Hills. It's not going to cost you anything and you already have the pics. You could just ask them for opinions. I have found the people at Shepherd Hills to go out of their way trying to help. https://caseknives.com/pages/contact-us https:...

Re: Case Salesman samples??

I believe SC means second cut, but no idea why the blades are in those frames with those handles. Left over parts put together to make knives? Hopefully Steve will see this and give his opinion. Interesting.

Go to Google and search for Kutmaster rope knife and then click on the images tab. A lot of pics come up and some with readable tang stamps that might be what you're looking for.

WTB Schrade Scrimshaw Knives

Looking for Schrade 503 SC with a salmon on it and also 515 SC with big horn ram on it. Don't have to be mint, but nice. Buy for cash or can trade. Always buying Zippo lighters.

That knife ended up bringing $52.50 with about 23% in tax and commission on top of that. Not a bargain in my eyes.

Re: Case auction knife

I contacted the auction house yesterday afternoon and asked them why they thought this was a Case knife. They said that information was provided by the consignor. It's not uncommon for that to happen. They did add more pictures to the auction. The knife ended up bringing $55 plus about 20% in fees. ...
