Many companies made metal handled knives, mostly boys knives. They were very cheap to make and sell.Maher & Grosh had a single blade metal handled knife you could buy for 42 cents a dozen.48 if you wanted them shipped. Thanks guys! ::tu:: It was just such a wierd looking pattern I was wondering i...

Why are people so frustrated that they become violent and destructive ? They were not born violent and destructive. How a society functions is often very negative towards certain sub sections of the society. Until changes can be made that create fairness for all, frustrations and violence will cont...

That makes total sense, thank you for the feedback!!kootenay joe wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2020 1:38 pm It would be easier to ID your knives if they were on a plain background. Having a background of knives with blades open confuses the picture.

Re: Old Rodgers-Cutlers to her Majesty
Your knife is a whittler, missing both secondary blades. There are still quite a few "Her Majesty" knives 'out there' that have been used but will all blades present and close to full. Winning bid prices are often quite reasonable. Over time you could build a very fine collection of Jos R...

Very cool Dennis ::tu:: ::tu:: .. Here's a couple of other photos I found awhile back of cutlers in Theirs working in a prone position (which I understand was easier on their backs)... I quite enjoy seeing the dogs laying across their legs - this was done to keep the cutlers warm ::nod:: ... French...

Old Rodgers-Cutlers to her Majesty
Here is a really nice and really old Rogers-Cutlers to Her Majesty knife. Initially I thought this was a single bladed knife but upon further inspection I looks like it had 2 short blades that had been cut off. At first I thought it was a nice slot for the single blade but if you notice it has small...

Ulster Knife with Wells Nellegar tang mark
Hello Again friends! I have a nice little Ulster Knife Co 2 bladed knife that has a second tang marking on the back of the master blade. The name says Wells Nellegar and the only information that I could find out is that they were a Chicago Hardware Co but nothing about any markings on knives. I've ...

I haven't been here since last year so please excuse my absence. My bug has been revived and I have started picking up some new knives. One of those is a Mini Begleiter made by Kizer, one of the new high quality Chinese manufacturers. I must say i was very impressed by everything on this fine little...

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
It is probably a "Long Hunter" pattern rather than a Bowie. Long Hunters first came out in Britain about 1880's-1890's i believe. The idea was to give hunters a knife similar to a Bowie but a little smaller because a Bowie size knife is big enough to be a bit awkward for field dressing, e...

Great looking true vintage knife and in excellent condition, looks very little used. It looks to be a good size too, about 12" ? I do not collect fixed blades but i think anyone who does would be quite excited to have found this beautiful knife. kj KJ, I'm not really not much if a Fixed Blade ...

Good Morning Gents,
Still pretty nice weather here, supposed to be about 65 today. Our Thanksgiving down in L.A. was great, it was 90 degrees and we went down to walk on the beach and catch the sunset over the water. I hope everyone had a great one! Take care and be safe out there!
