Buck 117 and Ruger M77 make a pretty good combination.

Re: Whats your newest addition to your Buck family and why?
Thank you both, Reverend and CCC. This is the first Yachtsman I’ve owned and thrilled to find one in unused condition with box. About what year do you think this is from? Since the 315 was made by Camillus for Buck, there will be no date stamp. What is the tang stamp—"BUCK/Made in USA" or...

Approximate years for introduction of the various spacer materials are: leather-1955; hard fiber-1962; micarta-1969. Many thanks bertl ... Good info! Does the introduction of hard fiber relate to the introduction of delrin? I always think of Delrin in relation to the 300 series folders and black ph...

Re: 1976-82 Buck 119 With Double Bands At Pommel
What is the tang stamp? The red arrow is pointing to the tang stamp. On older knives it may just be one line of "BUCK"; others may be two lines of "BUCK/USA"; and eventually three lines of "BUCK/MODEL NUMBER/USA". From 1986 on, the model number will be followed with a ...

Re: 317 with serrated blade
You have a fairly rare model of the 317. In 1989 Buck introduced the N1 Series. This series featured several models with serrated blades. Some models had thousands of knives produced, but for the 317N1 only 700 or so were made.

Re: Buck Stockman?
Buck referred to those scales as Poly Pearl. I think they were a WalMart exclusive, and that it's a 303. I don't think the 301 was offered in Poly Pearl. Any idea why they didn’t put 303 on the tang like other 303’s I’ve seen? The year 2005 was an exception. The Buck Anvil was used to denote 2005, ...

Hi Guys, I got a little Stockman in a bunch of Knives I bought in an UK Auction. In it was a great little 303 Stockman in awesome condition, it also has the Champion Sparkplug logo etched on the main Clip point blade. Could anyone point out a year of production ?? Cheers JT That knife was made for ...

Prater is a well respected custom knife maker. Most of his work is a little too ornate for my taste, but he does good work.

Any chance this is an imported knock off ? I can’t find another with Buck Custom on the tang stamp. The attached photos show a Michael Prater Painted Pony 303. I see some similarities between this knife and yours. Do you have a photo of the other side of the knife? Mine has a stamp on the back side...

Santa Fe Stoneworks hasn't done any Buck knives since Buck moved to Idaho. I think there's a possibility this is a Painted Pony knife by Michael Prater.Railsplitter wrote: ↑Mon Nov 14, 2022 12:28 pm Could be Yellowhorse but it looks more like Santa Fe Stoneworks.

this near mint,1990 (X), Buck 314 Trapper. First one I've ever seen; didn't know Buck made trappers. It's a big, 4-1/4" hoss. The 314 Trapper was introduced in 1990 and production ended in 1998. In 1992, the spring rivet changed from brass to stainless steel. You have a nice example. Bert

You have an interesting knife. The 317 was always by Camillus under contract for Buck. The early models (1972-1974) had a tang stamp of "BUCK/Made in USA". From 1974 onwards the tang stamp was "BUCK/317/USA". All production knives were two-bladed with a clip blade and spay blade—...

The inverted 3-line is specific to 1972. Although they aren't found every day, I don't think of them as rare; however, for a 102 collector that knife is an important one.

No, it was a much older company started in the 1850s, and they made woodworking tools. I have some of their chisels that I inherited from my great-grandfather.

Going through my dad's knife collection which is huge, I came across this old Buck knife in this sheath.... is it an original sheath for the knife or was just put in this case. I can't see some necessary detail for either the knife or sheath for complete identification, but my guess is that the kni...
