Wallkill River knife Walden, NY

I got this Wallkill River knife today at a yard sale. I had never heard of that company so I checked the internet to get what information I could. Pretty much all I could find out was that the knives were widely counterfeited. This one looks original and I don't see why someone would alter a knife t...

Knifolks Hunting Knife

I picked up this Knifolks knife today and am curious about the company's history. I have never heard of this brand. When and where was it produced. Tang is marked Knifolks USA on one side and 330F on the other. I think it will clean up pretty good. Any help? Thanks, Al

Re: Remington R-3

Thanks Keith, I think you are correct. I just found this on the internet: Camillus made for Remington circa 1990's. Large double lock back model R3 knife. Nice heavy well made hunting folder. Handles are brown jigged delrin with nickel silver bolsters. Knife measures 5" long closed. Hollow grou...

Remington R-3

I bought this Remington R-3 in Florida this past winter and I'm curious about who made it. It looks pretty new and I know Remington hasn't made knives for a lot of years. It is stamped "Remington Made in USA" and "Remington UMC". Most China knives that I have seen are stamped Chi...

Brass scissor type knife and Imperial RI Girl Scout knife

I got a half dozen knives yesterday at an estate sale and I have a couple of questions. What would you call that scissor type knife? There are no names or numbers. It is 7" long opened and 4 7/8" closed, made of brass and steel and the quality is not great. Does anyone know when it was mad...

Unusal Ice Fishing Spear

I have a few nice ice fishing spears but the one I got at an estate sale last week is sort of unusual. The spear with handle length is 63", the spear is 11" by 8 1/4", and the spear to handle connecter is 2 5/8". The double tapered connecter is made of copper (it looks like brass...

Re: vintage airguns

To me a vintage air gun is one made prior to 1980. That's different for everyone. Sort of like "antique", to me that means made before the industrial revolution (about 1831). To a lot of people, it means a hundred years old. I've seen some folks on Ebay call an item "antique when it w...

Re: vintage airguns

Thanks for the encouragement Charlie. I wasn't complaining about not getting any responses, I was just feeling bad about not being able to find a site where I could discuss and learn more about another of my interests. I also collect knives, hatchets, axes, padlocks, pitch forks, fishing lures, old ...

Re: vintage airguns

After four or five days, there has been no response to my post. I think the sad truth is that there is no vintage air gun site left on the internet. I know there is lots of interest in vintage air guns because when I ask about them at garage sales, I get the same response as I do when I ask about po...

vintage airguns

I need help finding an vintage air gun forum much like this AAPK forum. I love to collect knives and feel very fortunate to have found this site a few years ago. I have spent the better part of two days looking for such a site, to no avail. The two sites I belonged to a couple of years ago are now g...

Thanks Guys, I really appreciate the information. I do plan to re-handle with bone this summer. The blades and frames are in such good condition, I couldn't pass them up for $5 for the pair. Thanks, Al

camillus government knife

I bought these two identical Camillus knives yesterday at a flea market. They seem to have never been used but they must have been stored under less than favorable conditions. What could the handled be made of and what chemicals could have destroyed them? Does anyone know when they were made or why ...

My $.25 Remington

I found this little Remington beauty at the Eustis flea market last Thursday for $.25. The handles are both gassed out, it has two broken blades, and one broken back spring. Most of you are going to think that I paid a little too much but I just love it and it will have a special place in my collect...

Jerry D, that hatchet head is an exact match. Mine didn't have a handle either. I would really like to know what it was used for. Thanks, Al

Re: Tiny cast iron hatchet head?

I found a couple of advertising cigar box openers that I had packed away. One is a hatchet the other is a hammer. They were both made to cut the box seal, pull the lid nail out and tap the nail back in when the box was closed. I thought the cast iron hatchet head might also have been a cigar box ope...

Re: Remington R-3 Who made it - when?

Thanks Jerry D. I would be happy with Camillus. I was afraid someone would say China put the "made in USA" stamp on it. Not much surprises me anymore. Thanks again, Al

Remington R-3 Who made it - when?

I don't think this knife is very old; there are a lot of them that have been sold on ebay lately. They bring $30 to $50 so they must be a decent knife. Does anyone know who made them and when? Thanks, Al

Any ideas on what this hatchet head was for? Toy? Cigar box opener? Paper weight? Novelty? The blade is not sharp. Any ideas on how old it is. Thanks, Al

Alfred Williams Horseman's Knife

I got this Alfred Williams (Sheffield England) knife at a yardsale a few days ago. My old Levine book had pictures of similar knives but by different makers. I learned that it is a horseman's knife. It seems to be in good working condition but one scale seems to be a lot more weathered than the othe...
