Re: Case 5393

That’s what it looks like. The 93 pattern is similar to the 92 pattern but the back springs are beefier making the knife somewhat wider. Whereas the 92 pattern is 4” closed the 93 pattern is about a 16th” shorter. They are rare knives!

Re: Bob Neal knives

I listed another Bob Neal Knife as well. If someone from AAPK wants to acquire one or both I would sell them off eBay at a discount of course. To be honest Bob is a friend of mine and he makes super knives so I am fine to keep them in my collection if they don’t sell. Thanks for the interest guys. Tom

Re: Old case knife ID

The 16 pattern is listed as 3-1/2 or 3-3/8 inches depending on the reference book used. IMHO any honest knife of that age is somewhat rare, some more so than others. The two-blade swell end jack is not generally a rare pattern, but just having survived over 100 years makes it not often seen. Ken I ...

Re: Oldest Case knife

I have tried googling and searching to no avail. Does anyone know what the oldest Case knife is on record? I'm curious to know what the pattern was and if anyone has any pictures of it. I have been very interested in this for a couple weeks and have had no luck in finding it. I have always been of ...

The McLilley & Company sword, Columbus, Ohio

A friend of mine has this sword, approximately 36" long including the handle. It is marked "The McLilley & Company, Columbus, Ohio. I know it's a long shot but was wondering if anyone might have some information on it and if it had any value. Thanks in advance.

Hope this helps a little.

Re: Case Bradford tang stamp Question ?

Those are proper markings for a CASE BRADFORD era knife 1915-19. W R CASE & SONS had just recently acquired the TESTED XX Trademark from CASE BROS who had to close their doors. Nice knife!

Just saw this post, good eye Greg. I thought the pearl looked pretty new for such an old knife.

Re: 8318?

The 8318 was also produced with a pen blade, so that wouldn’t be a concern with me. Closeups of the tang stamp would be good, Stamp doesn’t look to have been ground off and restamped as the grind line appears intact. Some better pictures would be helpful for sure. Pretty rare knife if everything che...

Re: Stamp ?

I really don't see anything with the stamp that would make me think it is not correct. As Ken said , pictures of the whole knife are necessary to provide a mush better evaluation of whether the knife is authentic.

Re: WR Case & sons 6445 Tested Boy Scouts shield

I believe the knife is ok. I have seen a few others through the years. A few things to consider is that WR Case & Sons never had the right to use the TESTED XX trademark until 1915. The round TESTED XX stamp is indicative of a Contract Knife as well. So the knife was made after 1915 and was made...

Re: W R Case 5380????

The knife is a complete, total absolute fake. The 80 pattern “carpenter’s whittler” wasn’t made prior to the Tested era at earliest, and there is some debate about even that. Most sources say it first appeared in the CASE XX era (there’s a thread here somewhere debating exactly that). The knife is ...

Re: Case Brothers Little Valley

I agree with everything Ken said. Really hard to value a knife without knowing the closed length. Case Bros started making their own knives in Little Valley around 1900 but probably some contracting took place as well. I like Ken have heard several stories of why the Brothers broke away from Cattara...

Re: Good one to learn from

Just out of curiosity, does the stamp look right? I have no idea what a correct stamp from that era would look like. The one thing that bothers me about the idea that this knife is a fake is that the blades and back springs do not have a smooth joint. The bad joint is exactly like some Case knives ...
