Tak Fukuta “ZAK” Trapper Hunter With Ebony Handles
This is a scarce vintage hunting trapper knife, made by Tak Fukuta in Seki, Japan circa 1990s and branded ZAK for domestic sale in Japan. This is identical to the A.G. Russell AG-102 which Tak Fukuta also made in 1997 for A.G. Russell. An A.G. Russell version sold on the Cutting Edge for 175.00, it had Quincewood handles. This 4 1/2" trapper is of very high quality, featuring polished AUS-8 blades with good snap and have never been used or sharpened. Nickel silver bolsters, and Ebony handles which are chip and crack free. Great snap and strong half stops. The runup (where the blade and backspring meet) is tight but not as tight as many Japanese made knives. Made for the domestic Japanese market, blade marked "Zak" for Tak's son. Tak Fukuta was the first Japanese member of the American Knife Maker's Guild, and apprentice to Bob Loveless. He hand crafted fine quality knives that impressed his mentor. Over the years, his factory in Seki, Japan also produced knives for Parker, Valor, Gutmann, Explorer, Frost, and Browning among others. After his passing there were several knives discovered in his factory, this is one of those knives. No box. Free shipping w/in the USA.
