ADDITIONAL INFO: This knife seems to have been produced prior to 1985 or 1986 when Kershaw was purchased by Kai Cutlery, the Japanese company that made their knives for them. It was about 1986 when Kai cutlery took over operations that the headquarters for Kershaw was moved from Jean Road in Lake Oswego Oregon to Wilsonville Oregon. The tang stamp still has KERSHAW/OREGON USA which was the tang stamp used when Pete Kershaw owned the company. Oregon was dropped from the tang stamp when Kai purchased the company and move the facility to Wilsonville. The sheath with this knife also says Lake Oswego, Oregon; indicating it was made prior to the takeover by Kai. The drop point master blade is a lockback blade and the small clip blade is a slip joint. This knife is from an early Kershaw series known as “Pocket Size Partners” based of course on the ranching theme so prevalent in early Kershaw advertising and marketing. This series was made at least as far back as 1980 that I can document with catalogs. I believe this series originated in the late 1970s.
