I have to give credit to another AAPK seller who so concisely and expertly detailed an identical knife for sale a few years ago. The prior sale doesn't list the seller's username, otherwise I would give them due credit.

John Salm, located in Torrance, California, almost exclusively made small lobster pen and watch fob knives to be attached to pocket watches and I guess later on for key chains. Almost all his knives had abalone scales with just a few made with pearl scales. From 1918-1925 his knives were stamped DeLuxe and from 1926-1935 he changed the stamping to SALM. This is one of his DeLuxe Knives made between c.1918-1925
You can see a clear crack in the abalone shell on one side of the handle. Apart from that the knife is in remarkably good condition. It still has snap and only negligible wobble.
