There once was a time when cutlery from Eskilstuna, Sweden was on par with Sheffield and Solingen blades. These knives are from that era. Eskilstuna Jernmanufaktur AB (later to become known as Jernbolaget) was founded in 1868. While the city of Eskilstuna is present on the larger blade etch, the country of origin origin is not; meaning this knife pre-dates the Tarrif Act of 1890. This fact gives us a relatively narrow timeline of when it was produced, which is fairly uncommon for older cutlery. (1868-1890)

The entire set consists of 4 smaller "butter knives" with a spear point tip, and 1 standard size "butter knife" with rounded tip. These appear to be from different sets by the same manufacturer.

The larger knife is nearly 8.5" overall with a high carbon blade, measuring approx 4.75" to the forged bolster. This handle is in excellent shape, though the material appears to be different from the others; possibly celluloid or bone. The blade has almost no patina, with moderate wear and very light pitting in some areas. The blade etch is moderately worn, reading:

"E. Jernmanuf. Aktiebolag"

(E Crown & Anchor logo)

"Eskilstuna"

The smaller knives are approx 6" overall with the blades measuring approx 2.25" to the forged blosters. The blades appear to be stainless, which means these knives likely date to the early 1900's. They have moderate wear and markings that are to be expected of antique cutlery. Two of the blades have heavier scratches to them and one of these blades also has a slightly blunted tip (see pictures). They have a cellulose type handle material which are in excellent shape, with only a couple slight blemishes (see pictures). They sport the EJAB, E Crown & Anchor logo.

**Note: I am new to knife collecting and selling. All descriptions are to the best of my knowledge and in an attempt to be as honest and forthright as possible in regards to knife condition. I have conducted hours upon hours of research on each individual knife that comes into my possession in an attempt to set a fair price. PLEASE feel free to contact me for more information on this or any other item in my store.
