Schrade USA – Small Trapper 285UH – NKCA PROTOTYPE – Smooth Red Bone

Schrade USA made small trapper pattern 285UH. This knife was made approximately between 1982-1995, submitted to the National Knife Collector’s Association as a potential yearly club knife. This is the original 1 piece prototype for the NKCA. This was not the chosen pattern, and so this knife never went into full production for the NKCA. This knife was sold through the Voyles Prototype auction in 2009 to raise funds for the NKCA.
This knife has brass liners, nickel silver bolster and shield. The shield says “N.K.C.A.”. Handles are smooth red bone. Closed length is 3 15/16 inch.
This knife does not have half stops. It does not come with a box.
The front side handles are faded quite a bit compared to the rear side. The front side handle has a crack that runs from the shield to the pin, and then to the right edge bolster. Blades are in good shape, snap good. The knife has never been used or sharpened. The handle crack had already occurred when the knife was sold through the NKCA auction.
I’ve been on AAPK for 20 years. Return the knife if you aren’t happy. Message me if you have questions. Free shipping to 50 US states. Paypal accepted. Thanks.
