1992 W. R. Case & Sons Prototype Coke Bottle Knife, 71050, with Mastodon Ivory Scales
1992 W. R. Case & Sons Prototype swell-center hunter, aka coke bottle knife, Case pattern number 71050, with Mastodon ivory scales. Knife is 5-1/8 inches closed and 9-3/8 inches with master clip blade open. Blade tang stamped: W.R. CASE & SONS BRADFORD, PA 19 USA 92 on the front and: TESTED XX 71050 on the back. Matchstrike long pull blade is etched: W. R. CASE & SONS on the front and engraved: Prototype Mastodon Ivory on the back. Handles are Mastodon ivory with oval shield stamped CASE. Liners are brass and bolsters are nickel silver.
Condition is used – NKCA – Mint. Knife has never been used, carried or sharpened. The Mastodon ivory scales have no chips, cracks or damage. The blade is new and unused with no pits or scratches and has the original polish. Blade has half stop, good snap and slight wobble. It must have come from the factory with the wobble, because it has never been used. Photos are explicitly part of this description.
This Case Prototype has the very rare Mastodon ivory scales. I don’t know how many of these were made, but it was very few.
