This is a Vintage NEW YORK KNIFE CO. WALDEN 2-Blade Equal End Swell Center Balloon Pen Folding Pocket Knife with a Used and Sharpened Carbon Steel Spear Point Main Blade with a Common Nail Pull, a Used and Sharpened Carbon Steel Pen Secondary Blade with a Common Nail Pull, a Set of Genuine Mother-of-Pearl Scales with a Little Chipping on the Very Bottom of the Rear Scale but No Cracks or Splits, Three German Silver Handle Pins in Each Scale, Brightly Polished German Silver Rounded Bolsters, Brightly Polished Brass Blade Liners, a Single Steel Back Spring with No Cracks or Breaks, 3 1/16” in Length and Made Between c.1856-1931.

This is a very lightly used and barely sharpened NYKC Swell Center Balloon Pen Pocket Knife The knife has a barely used or sharpened carbon steel spear point main blade with a common nail pull. Both blades faces are pretty much clean with only a very few very scattered minor stains or really just specks. I don’t even see any scratches from use. I don’t see any indications it’s ever been sharpened either. Stamped on the front tang is NEW YORK (over) KNIFE CO (over) WALDEN. The blade is still 100% full. The knife has a very lightly used and sharpened at carbon steel pen secondary blade with a common nail pull. Now this blade has been used but not very much. The cutting edge does have a couple of extremely shallow nicks. Both faces have some light scratches from use but that’s about it. Stamped on the front tang is NEW YORK (over) KNIFE CO (over) WALDEN. Both blades still have excellent open and close snap. The knife has a set of genuine Mother-of-Pearl Scales. They’re free of any cracks or splits but there is some chipping out of the very bottom of the rear scale with the most noticeable down by the bolster. The scales are very translucent. There are three German Silver handle pins in each scale. The bolsters are rounded and brightly polished German Silver with no dents or dings. The liners are brightly polished brass. The knife has a single steel back spring and is free of any cracks or breaks and it continues to perform the functions it was designed to perform. The Knife is 3 1/16” in length and made by the New York Knife Co. Located in Walden, New York and since there’s no Hammer Brand stamp I can only date the knife as between c.1856-1931.
