1890 Vintage Hatch Cutlery Co WILZIN'S patent bone handled knife
While this is not exactly a switchblade, it's at least a long lost relative! This is a Hatch Cutlery Co two bladed assisted open knife made in the early 1890s. The knife is stamped Hatch Cutlery CO over SO MILWAUKEE over WIS on the large blade and PAT APR 9 over 89 on the small one. It measures 3 1/4" closed including the release tabs at the ends and just under 6 1/4" with both blades open. The blades appear to be nearly full with some light patina and light scratches. The jigged bone scales are in excellent condition! The knife functions very well. You pull up on the tab at the end of the knife to open that blade. When the tab is pulled, the blade is thrown approx 15% open where it is held in position by pressure from the backspring. You must then grab the blade and pull it open manually the rest of the way. The blades are also held in the open position by backspring pressure. You simply push on them to close. It's a very unique mechanism designed to save broken fingernails, similar to the switchblade knife. This one comes with a leather purse that appears to be as old as this 120+ year old unique pocket knife! Money back guarantee if not as described.
