This is another knife out of my personal Christmas Tree scales collection. It’s a vintage Gamble Stores 3-Blade Equal End Cattle Knife in excellent condition. The knife appears to have only been lightly used though I see no indication that it was ever used or sharpened. The knife has a carbon steel clip point main blade with a long nail pull. The front face has just a very few micro-pits. The rear face has some scattered tiny micro-pits as well. Stamped on the front tang is GAMBLE (over) STORES. The carbon steel spey point secondary blade also has a long nail pull and also appears to be unused. Both faces have no more than a few tiny micro-pits. On the other end of the frame is a carbon steel leather punch blade. It’s in excellent plus condition and the tip is still intact. Both faces have some very scattered micro-pits and a few scattered stains on the back face. All three blades still have excellent open and close snap. The knife has an exceptional set of vertical gold, red and black glitter Christmas Tree celluloid scales. This is one of the best sets of Christmas Tree scales I have in my collection. The glitter is extremely bright and all the colors just pop. They are in perfect condition with no cracks, splits or missing chips. There’s a brightly polished nickel silver crest shaped shield inlaid flush in the front scale. It has three (3) three brightly polished brass handle pins in each scale. The knife has mirror polished nickel silver rounded bolsters with nary a dent or ding. It has brightly polished brass liners. The knife has two polished steel back spring with no cracks or breaks and they both continue to perform the functions they were designed to perform. This is one of the best and unique cattle knives I’ve had and unique in having these beautiful vertical Christmas Tree celluloid scales. These knives, possibly made by Camillus, were for sale in Gamble Stores from the 1930’s to the 1950’s. Their headquarters were in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The knife is 3 11/16” in length.
