Puukko hunting length, coke bottle handle, exquisite spalted maple, rare sheath design USA maker
Larger than most typical puukko knives the size is well suited for hunting /survival. The blade is 52100 (ball bearing steel), forged, quenched tempered to 60RHC and hand sanded to 2000 grit for an almost "buffed" appearance. The hardware is nickel silver with an "Ivy League cap" pommel for firm grip out of this sheath which "pops" for right fit when inserting the knife. The handle is an exquisite example of stabilized spalted maple with amazing grain variation throughout. Because of the larger size, especially the width, I improvised the handle shape, from a typical slender cylindrical to a coke bottle which offers superb feel in hand, well balanced. The hidden tang extends through the complete handle and is peened at the pommel cap. The overall length is 9" with a 4" blade and 3/16" thick at tang.
Theis sheath design is unique, (it was originally done by Michael Almqvist and I studied the process and then implemented it), labor intensive to make so please review the photos.
