MAKER : G. Butler & Co. of Sheffield, England
PATTERN : Horseman's Knife or Tool.
CLOSED LENGTH : 3 7/8th inches long.
HANDLES : Stag with no cracks and no chips.
TANG STAMPS : All blades and/or tools but the hoof cleaner are stamped. The sheepfoot or lambfoot and the saw blades are stamped with the KEY Logo (over) G. BUTLER (over) & CO. on the mark side and on the other side is SHEFFIELD, ENGLAND around and oval with something inside the oval that I cannot make out. The opener is stamped TIN OPENER on the mark side with SHEFFIELD, ENGLAND around a oval with what looks like ART inside the oval.
CONDITION : Used but excellent condition.
BOX: None
DAMAGE : Just normal usage.
AGE : 1865 to present according to Goins. Levine has it at 1768 to 1952. My estimation is mid-to-late 1800s.
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN : England
BLADE WEAR : There is wear due to use and sharpening so be sure to check the photos.
SHIELD AND BLADE ETCH : There is a bar shield and no etch.
SNAP : Good on all blades, opening and closing and with good half stops.
